Subject: National Team

Don't forget Shane Thompson as well!

Galan who borkos said may make it (no doubt a junior will come along first) is also a bit under developed, but Jeremy McDonald from my team would make a decent defender.

Mitchell is also a striker that cane be used quite nicely.

I think we have the makings of the team there, but in the end, its and NT match and I will still be watching it

Don't know how I missed Thompson on my scan through the NT players, he's already looking very solid.

It probably just looks like I'm campaigning for my own guys. And there's probably at least some truth to that. I guess I'm not convinced that we've got a full squad of currently U18's that are worth running, wheras we've definitely got a squad of currently U19's (which I'm guessing is was what borkos was thinking about when he put out the U19 / U21 question)

One thing you say is guaranteed or future players the games, but in the end, only Borkos knows this, because Im sure there are players there that may be guaranteed less than a season of games because their skills are slightly better then someone younger and more talented. But are these players really worth giving NT experience too, or do we give it to the weaker players so they can get more tactical discipline?

I know there are a bunch of strikers coming up. look at the ages of these players..

25 - Newhill
23 - Amien, Brosque
22 - Hrehoresin, Box, Seaman
21 - Augerinos, Choony
20 - Richter
19 - Byers, Hirons
18 - Dreger
17 - Mitchell

I know I missed a few players to to lack of knowledge or whatever, but with strikers, we almost have a combo for each year.

P.S. Theres nothing wrong with wanting U/21's because you want to see your players play, as long as you come up with a good reason (as you have).

But it is a bit of a difficult decision saying who will be Australia's future strikers due to what I just posted. Especially if you add a year on to all those players

Edit: Hirons looked older then he is

Fair point too.

I guess it seems to me that current 16,17,18yo's are still a number of seasons away from being A-team players. I'd rather see the current A-teamers get their time in the sun for the managers that trained them up, with maybe some games for the younger players (ie soon to be A-teamers) who are up-and-coming.

(P.S. Hirons should still be 19 on that list... He's a strapping young lad with technical skills beyond his years, understandable mistake)

Yeh, I see what you mean, "We trained them so they should be playing for NT instead of these younger, worse players"

Definatly a fair point, but if we were to have U/19 games at the end of each season, then they would still end up getting the same number of matches.

In the end, the NT coach represents what the country wants (some countries just want to win, others want to have fun, others a mixture), So I guess it comes down to a vote (as always) or NT coach basing it on skills of players and inevitably stamina (which I think would be the 16's 17's and 18 yo's biggest problem)

I think it'll be U-18 before update, so U-19 officially. I think it'll be quite interesting.

I'll update the note of NT, though greg still haven't improved it with edit/delete buttons..:/

Why don't you just go Under 20 and make everyone happy?
2006-11-14 07:10:33
hey hey hey, dont just think you can barge in and use your logical 'compromise' solution!
2006-11-14 12:11:29
That's a scandal I think! How can you attack native Australians, you New Zealander?!
If I'll be choosen, I'll never do that, so vote one me!

;)))
@Cloete
Hm...I'll check all squad, how it'll look. Hirons will play anyway...so let it be officially named U-20 from new season! :p

Bourke is so good he gets mentioned twice. I knew the lad was going to be a star.
2006-11-16 03:12:33
aaaahahahahahaha, go Bourke

;)
2006-11-17 17:39:54
Haha, would you believe?

In main NT forwards are the worst formation, and midst are the best.

In U-19 it's on contrary. :p
Maybe that's because of the thing, that mids have to be more overally skilled and it's hard to achieve at 18yo.

For example Thompson and Schwarzer look great, and in future they have place in first team without a problem.

I'm curious to know how it is in Norge? :)

Anyway, I'll send some sk-mails about updates, and check 'youth players' topic, maybe I've missed some youngsters :)
