Subject: National Team U21
As far as other results in the group go, Espana got a walkover victory against Belgie because Belgie didn't have a tactic set, and Honduras won as expected against Ghana (although only by 2-0).
Aus, Latvija and Honduras all rating about the same, so it is likely we will all knock each other out of the running for 1st or 2nd even with the w/o

Australia vs Ghana
Today we play Ghana away (so tomorrow our time).
This game will be a failure if we get anything but a win, however Honduras only managed to put two goals through last week, and they are of a similar strength to us.
There have been a couple of changes to the side with injuries and cards coming in to play.
I do feel for the Ghana coach as I believe they may have to fly blind with their players skills (there is a certain amount of that even in Aus U21), so positioning will not be ideal for them.
Lets bring home our first win

Australia 6 vs 0 Ghana
Very happy with the result. Was going out there to really help us get some good goal differential to try and get us above the other two with similar ratings to us should we all tie on points.
Salapasidis was playing in his debut, whilst there were a few players who have played less than a handful of matches.
Fuller got 3/6 goals whilst Trappe got 3/8.
Curcija had our sole assist, although I think they were being a little stingey about giving them out.
Unfortunately Latvija somehow managed a draw against Belgie giving them a points boost which was no expected. What this means is it will be harder for us to get 3rd, but increases our chance of getting 2nd and making the world cup, something that coming in as a 4th seed, is not expected at all (and would still be a long shot).
Honduras got mauled 9-0 against Spain which is rather ominous, but again, this result is good for us due to the GD.
Next week we play Paraguay U21 who are ranked 11 positions higher than us and rating about 10% more than us. It will be a tough match, but certainly the right kind of opposition we need to be able to match it with if we want to get the 3rd pool next WCQ.
We also have two first teamers on two yellows, so it may cause an issue later in the season. Will have to seriously consider resting these players in the lead up to our more important Honduras and Belgie matches.
Now I'm right in to exam study, I don't think I will have much time to prepare for it which is a little frustrating, and may be the case for the following week against Spain (day after final exam, so will be a little worse for wear).

I also forgot to mention, I will be blooding some more debutantes against Paraguay to try and protect some of our youths from bots disappearing or getting fired. Even if it only gives them one more shot at being sold and trained, it is better than losing some of our highest valued players as we have seen in the past.
only one youth landed today (with the 5 available slots), but the upshot is 16yo / 34wks.
Australia vs Paraguay Friendly
Today is our first friendly and it will be against Paraguay.
It should be a good game, although one we are not expected to win. They are ranked 40th in the world, although their ratings aren't fantastic.
There will be 3 debutantes today. This is more to protect these guys from going bot/getting fired without the chance of going on the TM.
Not much more of a writeup as I'm in exams, but I'm sure the Paraguay coach will read this, so good luck :)
Next week against Spain will be directly after exams, so again, there may not be much prep.
To give a bit of an idea of the players they have at their disposal
Mindikowski was a Brilliant Defender with Excellent Pace at 19 (now 21)
Seiferheld was a striker with excellent/VG/excellent at 18 (now 20). and he doesn't even make the team normally
So I'm not sure why their rankings have tanked so much, but they have some seriously good players in their side.

Good luck with exams. Education is marginally more important than Sokker.
Thanks guys.
Haven't watched the game, but by the stats looks like a pretty fair result.
We are certainly putting up a great fight against these bigger nations, especially with only just having taken over the NT. We could have had a stronger lineup (subs players and timing of interchange) to give ourselves and even better shot, but I wanted to pull in some debut players so we don't lose them to a firing or bot getting taken over.
Overall pretty happy with the result given the huge difference in skill level of the few Paraguay U21 players I have seen.
Keep up the good training, and we can continue to punch well above our weight for a little longer

For those with hard Cup and A-League matches, don't forget Stamina training is an option. Gives you the option to play 1sts in both matches and still everyone in the side that isn't formidable gets stamina trained.
It is also very helpful for the U21 matches, so they don't deteriorate as fast, and gives more options with the subs

was only thinking that last week. :)
Pace pop this week for Ross & Last.

Didn't get a chance to do a preamble for the Spain match, but pretty happy with the result.
Ranked 24th (compared to our 57th) and rating 13 points higher than us, losing only 3:1 is a very good result.
Next up is the other beast of the group, so we will see how we go there.

Currently for sale. He is on the fringe of the team this year, will likely get a fair bit of game time next year (I think). If he fits your training plans, even for a season, line up to buy him. I don't think he will have much of a future after U21 but I could be wrong
