Subject: National Team U21

Love the feedback mate.
I would caution going weaker against India, they have some good trainers and have normally put up a fight in seasons gone (ie we win 1-0, 2-0 etc.)

It's definitely yard with u21 players to know just how much input to give.
I figure for the absolute best of an age group, focus on long term training that is best for their senior career, even if it hurts u21. However there will be a good half the team that will never be in senior contention, so those ones are better for optimising for the u21s.

It can be hard to know where players fall, so I've always been conservative thinking towards the senior team (and still had good success) but there have definitely been some players that could have been optimised for u21 who I didn't.

Good luck mate, you got this

Yes India must be respected, but im talking about going with some very few u20 players extra, like 1-3 u20 stars that almost are as good as the 21 yo´s more then the normal amount of u20, and probably just with "if winning by 2 at 55, 65, 75" conditions for getting them in.... im aware that S.Africa and Thailand are the only really easy opponents, where the possibilites of thinking forward is bigger

We won easy against Thailand, even we played several players because they were u20 squad important, the entire match was one long run for their goal, and i cant even remember their single shot. We had several big chances of making the score even bigger, including two balls dropped by keeper where our players get on them right in front of goalie, but goalie however recovered and took the ball from the strikers.
I played the big allround mid star Sekulovski in a wing att role, and he succeeded well in it compared to how he played against Lietuva as a pure winger. It seemed he was far more able to make short passes (which i thought he would, compared to crosses). Debutant Neil Johnston (u20 striker, probably meant to play in the WC next season) came on in minut 60. and made a hattrick, what a debut. The other goal was scored by Tim Waite (our best u20 striker).
Debutant Jackson Upton also needed only 30 min to make two assists, our best u20 mid Brodie Galan stood for the last recorded assist. We had 17 shots in total vs 1. And our keeper recorded no actions, so he didnt get proper rating, making our match rating seem rather low. Only problem was Lucas Baveas got a 13 day injury :/

And the 13 day injury to Baveas was without an opposing player being anywhere near him -.-

The other match of importance in the group between Ukraine and Uruguay, Uruguay won 2-4. Both teams seemed to play more solid defensively with quick look at the tactics (4 man def, not 3 man def as both did in first match). Shots were 7-11, so i wont rule Ukraine out of being able to gather together some points.

6 20 yo and 2 19 yo played today, most of them though not full match.

Next week against India, only 20 yo who is maximum 1-2 points after the 21 yo will be getting time (and in better or same form), aka only the top talents.

It's great seeing a bit of variety in who plays, especially if its to rest for important matches.
It may also be useful for those on 2 yellows to play and hope they get carded before a match that doesnt matter rather than against the bigger teams (if there are any that fall in to that category)

All the young players who played today are WC starters, it was to enhance training and XP.... so it will be done vs S.Africa and Thailand. Even our next season squad is far ahead of those two nations, and it will still be accompanied with biggest 21 yo stars, so we still play around rating 50-52 if our keeper actually has something to do. You could see 17-1 shots, 4-0 result vs Thailand, that is easy enough to start focus on next generation.

For bookings i will try play all with 2 cards in next match, but spare 2 cards players in match vs S.Africa, if the players are relevant for the ukraine matches.

The schedule is nice to us, that we have S. Africa before Ukraine, and Thailand before Uruguay....

I arranged u20 friendly versus norway in week 8, it will be a good test where i see us have 55%-45% favour cause of better squad and its their coach first season not having miniput team. They are ranked 33th at current.
2025-04-06 00:14:47
When it comes to that we just need an 1 goal win to get good ranking points, there Are very few as good options
2025-04-06 14:04:48
The tactic for India is already set..... there will only be 4 20 yo in play, and neither of them a full match, we have to be on alert, in the rematch it might be a little different if we get 4 or preferably 6 points against Ukraine
2025-04-06 14:19:25
We are playing Denmark u21 match in week 1, its after the age update, but still some matches for the WC, its a good test, probably even 50-50 chances. They are placed 39 in the ranking
2025-04-06 14:41:24
the match lineup versus India i set, has 10 players on aussie community hands, 5 on foreign..... that some damn impressive numbers

---------------------------------spoiler alert-------------------------------------

won 0-2 vs india, i was a bit nervous ahead of the match, due to their 10k eu wage striker in 18 form....... we are probably talking top 10 in all of sokker striker..... but luckily Ponting and Blake was superior to him <3 I placed Ponting (our world class def) where i suspected they would place the striker, and he only had 1 shot in entire match, a 1v1 on Blake, that he took well.... we paid a bit for the win, Sekulovski and Waite (and might miss first match vs Ukraine, luckily this seasons squad is really well covered in both mid and att), two of our best players will miss a week of training each. Uruguay will have to win by 4 goals or more vs Thailand or we will stay on top of the group :) Not much else to say, then if i hadnt paid due respect to India and started experimenting with u20 players it might have been a much tougher match..... 4-10 shots in our favour is also not that much with almost 10 more in rating

Not necessarily they will lose this week's training, at least Waite. He got 12 days, so possible for him to reduce to slight injury until Thursday. He's still young so may speed up the recovery a bit, at least I'm hoping he'll do so.

Yeah lets hope...
