It's sad to see you leaving but I totally understand doing so when life gets busy, it's why I had to stand down too

Maybe you walked in to a great set of youths, or maybe a set that suited your tactics/the opposition tactics better, hard to say, but going back through my posts, especially end of season/start of season ones, I have often commented on our strengths or weaknesses.

Some seasons we have an amazing GK with Bril+ keeper and pace, other seasons I played with VG/Excellent keepers. Sometimes I had incredible strikers, other times it was solid/VG.

It's difficult but I also found that the fun part of u21s. Being forced to think of new ways to give it to the large nations despite obvious weaknesses. The good thing is that large nations would often get complacent, because they didn't have to think so much (or they were busy complaining that their defenders aren't Unearthly+ at U21 level and therefore they were unlucky and had a really weak team).

Trust me, I know the frustration, but after being there for 20 seasons, I also understand the reality

You’ve done a good job since taking over but yeah historically we’ve had a weak side because we are a smaller nation in this game. You probably have to resort to tactics that suit the team we have rather than the usual stock standard. Sorry to see you leave us though completely understand with limited time and life getting in the way.

In the game against Germany I don’t understand the logic of playing a narrow formation on a wide/long pitch. You’d be better off playing on a narrow/short pitch to cut out their options of using the space.

The minor details are so important as they’re the only edge we can take advantage of. Defensive throw positions are the other and that first goal we conceded against Germany came from placement that wasn’t good enough. Easy to say watching it back and not being in charge of the buttons but these are some things that could be looked at. Realise you have had less time which results in things like this being overlooked but yeah just a few suggestions if you do have the motivation to turn it around. We were always up against it though as it is a very tough group.

I hadnt seen achmid put width on his field, i thought it was still long and narrow. I wanted it long cause our 2 strikers have 16 and 14 pace

I'm not sure the last time I changed my field size. It certainly wasn't recent.

Is the reason Doyle isn’t starting due to form at present? Would think he might still be better than Berry looking avg marks and player value and that’s with being in a lot lower form.

Realise that marks and value can be a little misleading at times depending on skill set but am curious because Doyle’s form has been on an upward trajectory of late and popped I think in passing and pm on Thursday.

Berry is a bit behind on skills yes, but 18 form to compare with 9 is a lot, i should have subbed in Doyle late though

Ok thanks for the explanation. I thought maybe Berry had more defense or something and so that combined with form made the difference.

Just make sure to have Australia still in the second basket to give whomever is taking over, a decent shot at the next world cup.
We are currently bordering dropping out of it so smart opposition selection will be required

The striker situation this season is nuts..... this isnt even good for being on bench:

5 form, 16 pace, 12 tech, 14 striker

12 form, 12 pace, 12 tech, 11 striker

8 form, 12 pace, 13 tech, 10 striker

Simply because with form in note, we have 4 better....

And the defence is starting to look well too, and midfield good enough to say we are favourite to asia cup..... lets end this season and this time with me in charge with honour :)

I did a long overdue update to the database, and next seasons def situation is looking a bit more nice then it did weeks ago, but i wrote to several def prospects manager that def training is needed for the u21
