Subject: Australia Cup

The trainees are getting splinters, but it's worth it to be on a run to the Cup Final. I feel we deserve to be there too, having gone 10-1 against Phil, CHILE & Chelsea.

Should be a good final. May the best team win. Of course, will be on tenterhooks all week, hoping to maintain a fit squad.

Congrats on the win. Thought this one might be a loss with three starters injured or suspended, but it was actually a genuine 50-50 match with the only difference being superior finishing by your guys. Good luck to the finalists.

I forgot how leaky that tactic was defensively and why I don’t often play it. Could have been on another day a drubbing against me. Only saving factor was I did get a lot of opportunity at the other end and my keeper had a better day then theirs. Took the gamble, probably shouldn’t have but I guess it paid off this occasion. Got a lot of cards as a result as well.

Finally have an official title. Not sure when I last won the cup but it’s got to be over 10 years. Been there or there abouts for a while now and nice to get something for some of my ageing players that have got me to this point.

Thanks for the enjoyable final Oscar. Unfortunately we can’t both win and I suspect that result could have been quite different if some of the dice rolls went the other way. Time for you to go on and win the league instead :)

That was so even. Only the 2nd time we've met in the Cup for a while. Could have gone either way, but it was not to be for us and Comets were worthy winners. More shots fell to Comets scorers.

I anticipated a tactic and made some changes, then rolled it back to something stable with minimal changes, 'cos I have a sense that the game knows when you put a lot of effort into the match prep... and doesn't reward you with the result.

After taking down Chelsea, I thought it might be our time. Shame we couldn't lift the Cup. This was a peak in quality for my squad, but we'll have another crack at it next season.

Yeah really could have. I think your keeper being in poor form possibly made the difference in the end. I still think I was lucky to get away with that given all the 1-1 chances you had from really good positions. Stand by that another run of that and you could have put 5 or 6 on me easily.

Win the cup, fans still depressed :p. I am aware of the fact cup wins don’t really get calculated and it’s all based on league results but I can’t help but see the resemblance to Spurs fans atm.

That's the hazard of buying an SD keeper in tragic form. I only paid 22k for him. He was good enough to keep a clean sheet against Chelsea. It just wasn't my time.

Fickle fans. It's mad that they don't appreciate a Cup run. At least they usually show up in good numbers. Not in this case, due to the rain. Next season, my stadium will have a lid on it. Too many rainy days in Sokker land.

Nope. Round 3 is where you run into A League teams

When the league restructure happened we lost some Div 3 leagues. Went from 16x8 to 3x12.

That dropped our teams from over 128 to what we have now 84. As a result our cup consists of 64 teams in round 1.

Do the maths that’s 16 teams left by round 3. Assuming all favourites win 12 of the 16 are A League teams.

Well, can't do much else. Double the shots (with my first team strikers), they had an early red card, and they still scored twice as many goal (against first team keeper, albeit out of form).

Well Well, more interesting results.

Cool Runnings move up into the top half of the draw. Last week, would have expected to get to this stage then have to play Chelsea or Achmids, instead, gets to be on the right side of the draw, now being a favourite to make the final and have another shot at the cup title.

Chile would love to get a second whilst Chelsea is just reminding everyone he is one of the big two, and that you will have to knock off a big gun to get your hands on that cup

Not that interesting really. I took the training option knowing it would likely swing the direction of the match and then I keep copping injuries or red cards making things more annoying to work through. Great for Hajduk though to get the win.
