Subject: International Cup

Thought I’d start this thread. For those living under a rock they are redesigning an international tournament which I guess will replace the champions cup and everyone will be allocated to a division and tournament.

Div 1 contains 32 groups of 4
Div 2 contains 2 tournaments of 32 groups of 4
Div 3 contains 4 tournaments of 32 groups of 4

Etc

Looks like the groups have already been drawn (though until I see the actual matches scheduled into our fixtures I’ll take it as subject to change).

As it currently stands looks like Achmid is our only div1 rep this season but we surprisingly have 2 teams in both div2 (Oscar and agbell) and div3 (Chile and myself) though none actually are in the same tournament.

Haven’t checked Div 4 or below but expect we’d have at least 2 probably more team there.

Could be a fun way to support each other and see how well we can go against the rest of the world.

To set your squad, go to a link to set lineup for any other match, it will look something like this

Then in another tab, go to https://sokker.org/cup/international
Click the "show matches" buttons of your group
Click on your first match (which will take you to the TV studio view)
In the hyperlink, it will show a series of numbers for the match id - copy those numbers, and paste it into the first link I posted in this post (replacing the 123456)
Then it will take you to the squad lineup page

Whether this appropriately saves or not, who knows (I assume it does), but following this may just help make sure you aren't playing trainees in the first match if the devs don't get their arse into gear and make it visible the traditional way.

Remember, this season is "Arcade" in nature, so you will not receive training. So may as well go in with 1st team every time

Just a reminder, the first match is today and the fixtures are now in the normal place you'd go to set line ups.

This season is purely arcade, so you can play injured players and those with red cards.

There is no training associated with these matches, so put out your best line up.

Promotion and relegation will still occur at the end of the season.

Finally they made something for the small nations <3

And small teams in big nations aswell

Better than nothing but it’s still not great for small countries. It solves nothing of the issues. You might say it allows for competition where competition didn’t exist but does it really? You’re still fighting against the main issue that those in smaller countries have less resources and so still can’t compete internationally. Assuming gate receipts come into play next season and assuming higher divisions have higher turnouts it’s yet another hit to smaller nations as their teams fight out at the bottom.

That being said I like having different competition and maybe in a few seasons it will balance out strength wise. Still need something to balance out the income side of things though.


Anyway started with a 4-4 draw. Bug bear of mine is why is it always 1 sided for where fumbles from defs/keepers, being dribbled through etc happen.

Thanks to my shift work, I am now awake at this silly hour.

Match kicks off in 5minutes, supporters think it will be a close game, with slight advantage to me and...they rated 76.8 in their national team match.

That's a huge jump in skill compared to my team (especially with Munn basically unplayable due to form).

I think this is going to be painful

2-2 draw, and they rated 79.1.

To put that in perspective, our NT rates somewhere between 75-79.

It was definitely difficult taking on someone who rated 10 more than myself (69.9) but overall happy with a draw.

They did outshoot me, but at the other end of the pitch, a couple more 50/50s could have gone my way too.

Overall, a draw was a bit favourable towards my team (as can be expected with such a rating difference), and with them being by far the hardest team in my league, I will take the point and run.

The two other teams that matches off in my group rated approx 42 and 62 if my memory serves. Not sure if these were their number 1 sides or not.

Will be interesting to see how the round goes across all of the A-League. I did do a quick check before, but there were still have the games remaining. At the time, it was a pretty even split between W/L/D

So just for fun, I have taken a look at how the top 5 division with Australian sides went as a whole.

Div 1 - D - achmids
Div 2 - D, L - CR, chelsea
Div 3 - W, D - chile, comets
Div 4 - L, W, L - GN, MM, HH
Div 5 - W, W - cisco, stamford

I managed to miss what division TMP, cruising kings, portland, waverley lions and phils XI were when I was manuall going through the lists.
