Agbell, just realized how you have been doing your talents and that it is technically incorrect given the system sokker has in place.

I will explain to you how to do it correctly (even if it is just for your own sake whether you should keep a junior or not), but unfortunately it isn't as simple as you state, which is basically a way to calculate on the old system.

You could be over or underestimating talent. With longer juniors you are probably closer to the actual talent.

Theres also a chance you already know this.

Always keen for insight

I recall (all those years ago) something to do with how many weeks until first pop & how many weeks from last pop until they leave? You could be mis-counting a pop if for example they pop every 4 weeks....but it was 3 weeks until first pop...then 3 weeks after last pop when they exit....there's 6 weeks there with no pop so talent could seem slightly worse.
I tended to wait until they had first pop, then count next week as week 1 through to last pop before they left as last week, to show nearer correct talent. If that makes sense.

Stanton for 800+k....nice!
Hadn't logged in for a few days & missed Danze. I notice he didn't sell...if you TL him again, I'll start the bidding.

Danze relisted

Yes that makes sense. However I don't do any manual calculations, i just use the number Sokker Organizer gives me and it seems to be pretty reliable.

Fantum, yeah that was the old youth system where we were given accurate levels.

Now it is a random number within a certain window, which is a little less random if you play them in the junior league.

SV (and I assume SO) just take the level they came in and remove that from the level they left, then divide the total number of weeks by that. Again, this coding was done on the old system.

Its now a little more confusing because you need to find a trendline that best fits the curve.

So to get accurate talent, you need to go to excel, type in all their levels throughout youth school in one column, plot a graph, add a trendline. Then where it says something like 0.15x, divide 1 by that number (ie 0.15), and this will give you the talent. It takes about 60sec per player, is a little time consuming, but in a game where you train someone for years, it could save you a lot of effort.

This was at least the way cometer taught me, and it makes sense. Its amazing how different the talents are to what SV and SO gives. (SV particularly, which regularly says talent is below 3, and we know 3 is the absolute best talent you can get in the game, with 4 being relatively hard to get)

Easy to see how they get less than 3 talent if basing it purely on number of pops & weeks in YS. You could have somebody enter at 31 weeks, pop first week, then every 3 wks, popping last week & showing as 32 wks/ 11 or 12 pops....talent would read less than 3 when we know it's not the case. Sounds like the SO/SV are long outdated.
I guess random pops would play havoc more so with short term youths. Long termers should balance out?
At least I won't have to worry for a while.....no YS. :)

Done.

Only evens out if their random number starts at their correct number and ends at their correct number.

Even in a long, 32 week junior, if his true talent is 4, and true starting and end levels are as follows 2 and 10.

Say due to the random, his initial level says he is 2 levels less than his true and at the end, it randomly says he is higher by two, so his range is 0 and 12, then his talent will be calculated at 2.67 the old way.

Now say it says he is higher by 2 than what he is when he enters, and says his level is lower by 2 than what it is when he leaves, then his level range is 4 and 8, meaning his calculated talent the old way is 8.

I believe the variation is up to 3, so even further apart numbers, but its easy to see why the old way of calculating things gives very incorrect values.

Just to add to see why the new way of calculating is required. It looks at every "random" number given by sokker, so every value, and not just the first and last help to determine the true talent. More data gives a better estimate. So whilst it still wont be correct, the variation should be a lot less from the real thing.
