Very nice.
If you have the space, butters is worth training and seeing how he goes and how quick he pops. You can always call it a trial and by 18 you will know whether to keep or not

That's the plan. :D

I'm always getting horrible youth pulls at any skill level. I'm waiting for the new YS system, my YS will be open forever, but a little more of hope is welcomed.

I think most would be in that bucket. I think it kind of has to be to as a way to take money out of the game whilst not inflating the amount of amazing players in the game at the same time.

I think the new training system might make youth schools a better investment also as you can train players from your squad in any position. The amount of times I got a decent pull but it was missing a stat I'd just switched away from training, or it came out as a different position entirely often resulted in having to sell to the transfer list

Newcombe being 16 may end up selling but Longmuir probably won't sell and will force me to sack them due to no decent skills, already halfway through 18 and not particularly talented.

Your keeper Jose Ozbey is very similar to the keeper I pulled in today with the pace and keeper skills swapped. He is solid in pace and poor in keeper basically. Even the age is the same.

Unless you were tracking it through the junior school, you're not going to really know just from what you've said.

What you can say is that it took x weeks to get from solid to very good pace. Assuming it took 3-4 weeks from solid to vg it's probably about average but you'll need to go longer to get a better indication. I mean you should be tracking this stuff anyway so you can work out whether or not they're worth persisting with training or if there is someone better you can get as training spots are limited. Plenty of tools out there that do this if you didn't do this yourself.

I think this thread is usually from those who have just pulled players from their junior/youth school and they have been tracking what the rises/falls are to be able to therefore roughly approximate their talent from that. Once in the main squad the actual numbers are not easily comparable because there becomes many more factors involved.

Edit: So as just one example, in the junior school I think levels are linear (that is the time it takes to get from say solid-vg general level is the same as from excellent-formidable). Outside of the junior school this doesnt apply, and so in any one skill the time it takes exponentially increases the higher the level, so solid-vg will take less than formidable-outstanding for example.
If you don't have a youth school set up, I'd strongly consider it. Adds an extra layer to the game.

Ok thanks I will set mine up soon as I have not been playing for long, so with a three week pop only avergae talent hey? I would have thought better
2020-11-05 09:40:23
It depends. Like has the player popped twice in pace in 3 weeks or just the once in 3 weeks? Just the once and you don't know whether that was a low solid or a high solid to start with. Now that you've registered a single pop, it's the next one and how many weeks that takes to go from say vg to excellent that will provide more detail. If it was 3 weeks for 2 pops to get to vg, then I'd expect it to be 3-4 weeks to excellent. If it's 3 weeks to excellent I think they'll be much better than average talent but if it drops to say 4 weeks or 5 weeks, then it's looking a lot more like around average. Basically, that's why you need more data points so you can work out the progression and the longer they keep ticking over at 3/4 weeks the more likely they are above average talent wise. It's not particularly noticeable in the early levels or younger age group. Much more noticeable when you hit the formidable mark onwards or players start reaching their early 20's.

You also need to exclude things like weeks where they didn't play and therefore didn't receive training, did play but not in the position that gives the player training (pace and stamina are the only exceptions where full training is given regardless of position), other skills that aren't being trained etc because all of these will tend to result in much longer periods of time.
