Subject: Youth players
You could argue that on that logic you’d never train a midfielder over a striker but it’s where the grey area comes back in. Mids become more desirable if you can get them to the high end of multiple skills, so in many cases the younger they are the more I’d lean towards the midfielder as it’s harder to get a top midfielder to a striker.
IF You would go with Mid approach, then I would leave def and focus on making him a winger. Higher chamcea of actually being useful for NT.
Nevertheless I would try to make him a striker. Less work to do and higher chances of getting close to 3x17

Yeah that was the other option and I did make mention of that. Though then you’d need really high levels in the other 4 skills. A central mid imo can sacrifice off some of those 4 skills for the added defense if you have to.

With that talent and end first 1/3 of 18 yo, he can be pretty lethal ATT....
Im sad i left the nt to an nowhere nt coach... I tried tell you guys to advert the candidature, i think that would have given dedicated candidates

But its close winger or att ... It can go both way, and with that talent i wouldnt write him off as a winger if thats more handy for you .. so i would maybe go with pace+tech first and decide next season when gt pops have arrived to tell situation.... Cause if he pops at pass+pm by gt in next 3-5 weeks, it might look different.
Also worth to notice, that 17 pace, 17 tech, 15 pass, 14 pm would be senior nt candidate, so its not fully 4 skills for winger, but fully 3 skills for striker

And pass+pm train faster then striker, and he is 3 levels higher in pm then striker.. again im arguing for personal choice and when gt pops arrive
Don't have a Cowman. Talent 4, pulled as VG. Listed.
Xavier Cowman, age: 18, height: 171 cm

stamina [3] poor, keeper [1] hopeless
pace [2] unsatisfactory, defender [7] good
technique [6] adequate, playmaker [0] tragic
passing [6] adequate, striker [0] tragic
Other was 18yo good and not worth posting.

For Rech, we need the U21 manager to advise on this. We haven't had an update on who the best players are at each age level for a while, so it's hard to tell.
At last check, O'Donoghue was #1 MID and #2 ATT. He has very similar skills to Rech.
pace [9] very good, defender [2] unsatisfactory
technique [8] solid, playmaker [6] adequate
passing [5] average, striker [6] adequate
I've been told to train O'Donoghue as an ATT. That would make Rech #3 ATT at best. And I don't know if we have any 18yo MIDs at all.
I'd look at how you would plan to allocate 40 weeks of training, assuming 4 weeks per pop, that's 10 pops. Then add two random pops per skill.
MID forecast:
formidable [11] pace average [5] defender
formidable [11] technique formidable [11] playmaker
formidable [11] passing solid [8] striker
ATT forecast:
outstanding [12] pace weak [4] defender
outstanding [12] technique formidable [11] playmaker
adequate [6] passing outstanding [12] striker
Pretty close IMO. Need our U21 manager to weigh in, based on facts about the other 18yo players we have. I have the same dilemma with O'Donoghue.
No point having 4 attackers and no midfielders. Then again, no point having 2 wingers when we don't play wing tactics.

If I had Rech, I'd focus on pace/tech this season. Then reassess next season weather to go with passing or striker.
We’re just not likely to get anything though. That’s the reality of the situation we’re in. We’ve been spoilt for a while and now it’s just an unfortunate reality we didn’t have a decent candidate and so the current manager won by default. They’re not getting a second season.

Hi all.
I dabbled in the game maybe a decade ago, now back for more action.
Had this guy in my starters basket. Don't know talent yet as I only just joined but hope he does well even with the lackluster trainers.
Esala Goulding, age: 18
average [5] stamina tragic [0] keeper
weak [4] pace average [5] defender
good [7] technique adequate [6] playmaker
good [7] passing adequate [6] striker
