Seen as I have been playing this now for nearly 5 years and my intrest seems to be hitting an all time high I feel i should apply. I would hope i could call on rtg for help and assistance as to be honest i would not really no what i was doing. Thats about all i can think about for the worst election speech ever.

right i have devised a question which will be sent to all candidates (including NT ones).

Over the past 3 seasons the scottish I and the community has embarked on the following items to try to improve Sokker Scotland for the best.

1. Spammed loads of forums and got our userbase up to 200+ I think it was.
2. Printed details of up & coming U21 fixtures with guess the score to get a chosen player to play in the next friendly.
3. Formed a massive 4 mentors to try to keep people interested.
4. Mailed every single new user to give advice and direction at the beginning of the game.

ALL of the above failed to spark any life into this community. To the extent that we are now spiralling towards our lowest ever userbase as far as i can remember.
There are no dedicated trainers in scotland as there are in England.
The NT games go by with hardly a mention from the community.
The weekly games go by with hardly a break of glass (apart from Stevies bottle).

WHAT would you do to solve any of the above issues?

If all of the above has failed then is it not time for a radical change in tactic. Maybe something that might require less effort in the long run but a lot of effort at the start. I remember playing a game where we got a walkthrough at the start. It told you what to do, where to find this and that and directed you towards the forums.

For example you get certain amounts of your money realesd for completing task that have been shown to you. Say you succesfully post a comment on the forum then you get yourself 15K or if you succesfully list a player you get 10K etc etc.

With regards to the fact we have no dedicated trainers of Scottish players could we not:
1) Introduce a system where a player who trainins X number of scottish people gets some sort of financial reward per cap?
2) Make a hall of fame for trainers who train/trained X number of players to NT or U21 level?
3) Sort out freindly matches with other countrys where less talented players can play as a reward to their coaches who have trained them as well as they could to keep them hungry and intrested?

Games going by without a mention National level or club level can not really be helped if no one wants to talk they wont. However if we get more banter going with the usual suspects then maybe people will come out there shells and post?

(If i do get the job i will try to improve my spelling for future posts)

thanks for your answer. Onto another one (its quite good seeing the scottish forums so busy).

What new features would you use to try to add to the spice of U21 games?
2009-12-09 12:59:03
Could introduce some sort of prediction league for the U21 side. Where the winner of the league of a certain amount of time gets to pick an U21 team of his/her choice for a one off freindly.

Then with the new match engine installed the next most notable change is player height coming into play. To be honest i dont know much about how height will effect anyone so it would be a couple of weeks before i could clearly say on that front.

I like your style Barmy Army, you have my vote
2009-12-09 21:11:14
right, since no one is asking any questions. Please answer truthfully im a big boy and can take criticism in any fashion.

1. What would you have done differently than me?
2. Who in your opinion is the best current 20yr old in DEF, MID and STR positions in the current squad.
3. How would you contact managers who are not giving you updates on their skills?
4. How often do you think managers should give you an update?

Thanks! :)

1) Not a great deal (basically nothing) you have done a great job and its going to be hard for the next U21 man to do anywhere near as good. However I would try, and would be mailing you for help and advice if that was ok?

2) From the current 35 man squad best DEF = Derek Bagan MID = Russel Huntley ATT = Kerr McNaughton. This is just from ratings only. I can't make a full statement on who is best without seeing their skills to judge.

3) I would contact them via SK mail. However instead of constantly pestering them I would send out an ultimatium saying if they dont give an update every 4 weeks there player will not be played. After all with the new changes offering 50% training from a NT match it should surely be in the owners/trainers best interest to update and keep their player playing.

4) As said above in (3) I would settle for an update every 4 weeks. It is unfair to say every week as some people will be busy through work/school/study etc. So if I operated a "update or no play" policy then I would expect an update every 4 weeks!

(now off to play assassins creed 2 hope its good!)

in relation to your reply to no.3 ...

When i was NT coach, i found that this was always quite a dificult thing to judge, and there are many ways to go about chasing for updates.

But i'm not sure scotland is in a position to be giving ultimatums so easily? ;)

As a trainer, i will always send in updates when my players pop. now that may mean i don't send any updates for 6 weeks, or so. As such, i think a blanket 4 week deadline is a bit quick.

it might be best to let those trusted trainers (who always send their updates in) do their own thing, while keeping a closer eye on those lazy managers who can't be bothered with the updates.

I know what you mean as i myself dont send my updates that reguarly.

However if we keep going along with this sort of lazy attitude then it is never going to change? Instead of it being an ultimatum could make it a 2 strike thing that way no one can complain. 6 weeks...ur players must be pretty untalented :P.

I agree with this but then surely it must be one rule for all? However it would be hard to monitor and starting off with watching for the lazy trainers would be a good idea at the start!
