Subject: [U21] langhe
Well, at last ;)
You can shoot your questions afterwards, but first take a minute to read this please.
Me:
I'm a 22yo student at university (bio and genetic engineering) who spends too much time on sokker. Unless I'm having a party somewhere with too much booze.
Experience:
Started somewhere back in 2005 with the game back in 5th division. Moved up to 2nd division where I'm doing fine (2nd to 5th places). On NT level I have experience as NT coach and some seasons where I only helped and gave my opinion. I've been NT coach of Indonesia for 3 seasons where most games went as they should (ofc no WC qualification). My 'best' experience was 2 and 3 seasons ago when I lead Belgium to the WC and reached the quarter finals. Those seasons also include victories against Nederland and Eesti and Germany.
Time to spend:
the next 6 weeks I wont have that much time (I have exams at university) but from the end of January on, I can spend too much time on the job. But as this is a season of WCQ, I guess I'll need only 2 tactics to start from: one against the stronger countries and one for the equal and weaker countries. According to rtg, we'll mostly need the first one.
Other stuff:
Below some things that probably would be asked anyway.
1/ What about heights?
I'm basically ignoring all the height issues at the moment. As long as I do not know what its impact will be, I don't think one should think about it. If it would matter quite a lot, I still think I should worry about our defense. Not all passes to forwards are given to be headed towards the goals. There are still quite some passes towards the striker where the latter has to shot on goal and height is thus useless. The same goes basically for our strikers, but you can influence the rate headers/shots by positionning your midfielders.
2/ Language?
I'm not a native speaker, but I guess my English is decent enough to be understood by you.
3/ Special stuff?
If posssible, I'd like to have the friendlies as entertaining as possible. So if other coaches agree, there could be some kind of UK and Ireland cup with the four nations. Even if I'm not elected, I think it should be possible to organise.
4/ What's most important? Rank from most important to least important.
- beating them
- something with booze
- win the wc
(i forgot what the 4th thing was :p)
Now it's time to ask other questions ;)

I canny believe he forgot the pies. Other than that not a bad sokker CV.
@langhe:-
As a wee test. Since you forgot about the pies. Which one of these isn't a type of pie?
A) Scotch
B) Lorne
C) Hairy
D) Haggis

They are all pies!
But the hairy one is to be enjoyed by more than only your mouth.

Your English maybe very good but hows your Scottish, I think the natives should test him with some real strong Scottish style questions. lol
You forgot to mention who beat you in the Qtr fnl of the World Cup too when you managed Belgium. :)

but who cares about that? I only know that I've beaten their U21 manager ;) So that's what matters now :p
Decent answer but actually Lorne is a sausage.
Im sure your sokker knowledge is way better than the pies!

erm, jumping to the defence of langhe - i have had a square sausage pie :D
i hate danish pastries - YUK terrible little sweet things they are
True story. In Denmark they call Danish Pastries Infected Eyes :)
Controversial, a lorne pie. Must be a South of Stonehaven thing.
Damn :(
i planned a late entry for the job , no point with our pal langhe sniffing about lol

right i have devised a question which will be sent to all candidates (including NT ones).
Over the past 3 seasons the scottish I and the community has embarked on the following items to try to improve Sokker Scotland for the best.
1. Spammed loads of forums and got our userbase up to 200+ I think it was.
2. Printed details of up & coming U21 fixtures with guess the score to get a chosen player to play in the next friendly.
3. Formed a massive 4 mentors to try to keep people interested.
4. Mailed every single new user to give advice and direction at the beginning of the game.
ALL of the above failed to spark any life into this community. To the extent that we are now spiralling towards our lowest ever userbase as far as i can remember.
There are no dedicated trainers in scotland as there are in England.
The NT games go by with hardly a mention from the community.
The weekly games go by with hardly a break of glass (apart from Stevies bottle).
WHAT would you do to solve any of the above issues?
