Subject: [U21] langhe

right i have devised a question which will be sent to all candidates (including NT ones).

Over the past 3 seasons the scottish I and the community has embarked on the following items to try to improve Sokker Scotland for the best.

1. Spammed loads of forums and got our userbase up to 200+ I think it was.
2. Printed details of up & coming U21 fixtures with guess the score to get a chosen player to play in the next friendly.
3. Formed a massive 4 mentors to try to keep people interested.
4. Mailed every single new user to give advice and direction at the beginning of the game.

ALL of the above failed to spark any life into this community. To the extent that we are now spiralling towards our lowest ever userbase as far as i can remember.
There are no dedicated trainers in scotland as there are in England.
The NT games go by with hardly a mention from the community.
The weekly games go by with hardly a break of glass (apart from Stevies bottle).

WHAT would you do to solve any of the above issues?

Well, in Belgium we have a topic and in a year we have lost over 20% of our playerpool. So it seems to be a worldwide problem and I think the only way to 'solve' it, is to discuss it on worldscale.
It seems promoting the game by forumspamming provides only a temporary increase in the userbase. After 50-70 days, youre back at the old level. As has been proven several times, the problem is not attract people, but to keep them interested and playing. Sending them a welcome mail and offer them tutorhelp is an important step, yet it seems to fail. Either people simply register and never log in again, either they accept the given help, but give up anyway. Obviously there is nothing we can do about the first group, but to accept applications asap (which is now mostly 24 hours, sometimes 48, so fast enough). But why do people quit anyway? I guess it's because the game has quite a high 'entrance level'. It's hard to understand and quite overwhelming the first time you see all the menus. But thats part of the game. So I think the only way to boost the userbase, is to spread the word and hope they stick. Some time ago, there was an article in our national sports magazine about hattrick. If sokker would achieve to have something similar, it might actually attract new users that stay longer. Well known or famous magazines or people's words just are important. Can't you convince McFadden to promote this game? :p

Change nationality?

Great question in honesty though and I did feel at times like you were given the odd exception banging your head against a brick wall. ;)

Proper trainers are no good without the trainees as well......you still manage to get world class strikers every flaming age group.

thanks for your answer. Onto another one (its quite good seeing the scottish forums so busy).

What new features would you use to try to add to the spice of U21 games?

Which biscuit - first or the second one?

2009-12-09 20:04:58
that 2nd biscuit looks like an epic failed waffle
Guess it's typical English to think that's a great biscuit ;)

The second one is called shortbread - just to let you know.
2009-12-09 21:08:04
u r sure?
2009-12-09 21:09:01
Should be, haven`t eaten one though.

right, since no one is asking any questions. Please answer truthfully im a big boy and can take criticism in any fashion.

1. What would you have done differently than me?
2. Who in your opinion is the best current 20yr old in DEF, MID and STR positions in the current squad.
3. How would you contact managers who are not giving you updates on their skills?
4. How often do you think managers should give you an update?
2009-12-10 01:15:16
1 I should check your latest games, so that' will be answered tomorrow
2 A bit hard to answer without knowing any skills. Besides, you have to separate wingers from centrale mids and defensive midfielders.
3 What I used when i was coach of Belgium was the classic 'buyer' trick. You look for a great name who is known to train (were talking about U21 this time) a certain position and let him ask the price and skills of the player. Backing up information can be 'he plays a lot', 'i saw him in best-of forum', ...
4 Were talking about young players who pop quite often. So basically if they pop in any relevant skill :) If they dont have time to update, they can simply send a sk mail :)

2009-12-10 13:42:43
shortfingers?
never heard of them, have heard of shortbread fingers though :P
defo, not shortcake as the texture is all wrong :)
2009-12-10 14:26:22
short fingers are what people with short hands have
2009-12-10 16:19:36
ahhh, now I can see how you could mistake them for short fingers ;)
