Subject: Sokker Scotland Think Tank

i dont think its that easy to exploit
in the cup game this season dispite me playing a sweeper my defence
caught you strikers offside 14 times
yes i lost 3-0 but no of the goals was caused by my sweeper being outnumbered
infact 2 of them were penalties
yeah i was beaten by your width my wingbacks couldn't
cope with your wingers but i think the sweeper saved me losing 3 or 4 more goals

untill i see a team exploiting my v shaped defence i plan to stick with it
(might drop my wing backs back a little against teams withalot of pace on wing in future though)

i think ruling out sweepers out of hand is plan wrong
i think you should adjust your tactics to fit your players
and if that means using a sweeper then go for it

hey mate if it works for you then keep with it.

I think rtg and myself have a different idea to sweepers than you.

I see a sweeper as a player playing behind a back 3 or 4

.................................keeper

.................................sweeper

....def.............def........................def.......................def...

I just watched our match again and your team wasn't set out like that at all.

Had your team been set out like that then I'm sure that you could see both mine and rtg's point but seeing as it wasn't set out like that then we can see yours :)

my sweeper plays just behind the 2 cb's he is a kinda stop gap bt definaltly a sweeper close enough to the center backs as not to get caught out but far enough back to clean up mistakes

cause this thread was called think tank and new players might be reading this i just thought writting off sweepers out of hand was OTT

obviously if my sweeper was distant from my cb then pushing 3 or forwards up the pitch will cause problems

i find the best way to set up players is to keep distances between players down trying not to make your players run too far

sorry mate but thats what i call a sweeper. Someone who sits usually at least 10 yards behind their centre half. Your playing 3 CBs

i call him a sweeper he sits just behind to clean up mistakes playing 10 yards behind would be stupid in real life never mind in this game

2 cbs backed up by a guy in the middle playing 1-3 yards behind
