Subject: Junior League - getting kicked out
buk buk buk buk buk! Sounds like you're scared of what the Junior Third has to offer?!
...but, given the shorter notice for junior fixtures, it would be good if you could set a default team for fixtures yet to be organised.
there is a default team (same team as the previous week), but the problem is that the wee juniors all eventually grow up and leave home. You end up with too many gaps so that you give away a walkover.

Well you might as well play one of these juniors & then sack them the next day. I have a similar problem, I'm running low on juniors & I keep getting crap ones in. This week I had 6 spaces available & got an 18yo tragic & nothing else. Hopefully the situation will improve or I will also be moving back to 3rd division although I couldn't care less about that coz these junior games are a pile of pish no matter what division you are in.
I hear you. I have a different problem: I get ok enough juniors, but they just don't improve. And I spend massive money on a brilliant coach... all in all the whole business will cost me 500k over just a couple of seasons.
All this negative talk is doing nothing for the future of this proud nation! Stevie needs a new superstar... and I plan on delivering!

Didn't you know, I'm an old firm fan & apparently I don't really care about youth development!
finally an OF "fan" admitting what the rest of the country already know.
I quit the junior first division last week too, there may be extra promotion places available for teams looking to go up at the end of the season?.
dispite sacking the worst trainees this week i still have this in my squad of 11 players
add to that my 3 good trainees with 2,3,and 5 weeks left i am in trouble
infact 7 of my squad leave the YT in the next 5 weeks i just have to take anything
and hope i can get something good one day
Peter MacLamond 16 tragic [0] outfield 4
John MacNicol 17 hopeless [1] outfield 5
Frank Connolly 16 hopeless [1] outfield 9
Liam McDonald 16 unsatisfactory [2] outfield 11
Jamie MacCaw 16 unsatisfactory [2] outfield 28
Kevin Turnbull 16 weak [4] GK 14

In the long run, having a junior team is worth it. You won't always make a profit each season. But in other seasons Ive made a profit to cover 3 or more seasons in 1. And don't forget you will sometimes promote a player straight into a trainee slot which saves you money from buying in a trainee. I don't factor that into my profit/loss as Id expect my junior team to run at close to break even or a small profit overall with the juniors I don't use. Don't give up the juniors, maybe go with a brilliant coach instead of a magical if you don't want to spend loads of money on them, you'll still get nearly max potential out of your youths. If money ain't a worry, go with magical.
hmm, so far my outlay has been in the region of 700k (200k+ for a briliant coach with low wage, 30k a week for his wages and youth slots - all this over the period of a season - so 480k.
In return, i pulled two decent players who sold for 4 between them. One was a 16yo good striker, but even so, sold for just 2.

Agree with maledil completely. Disbanded my youths at the start of last season and have turned a healthy profit enabling me to strengthen my squad more so than any youths i would have brought through. I don't think there's enough money for second division teams to run a profitable enough youth team and stay competitive. Sorry Stevie!
I believe the children are our future. Angum's Soccer Academy will remain open whatever the cost.
