Subject: what do you think of my youth squad

2007-10-18 15:47:25
Sam MacPhee very good 2
Charles MacWalter good 2
Murray Severin formidable 7
William Inches very good 13
Neill McLaren formidable 13
Daniel Valentine good 15
Michael Connell average 15
Connor Matheson excellent 17
Clyde Carnegie adequate 17
Leon Weaver excellent 17

Average talent of the bolded players is 4, worst one being 4.5. And a point to note, the two 17 week players will get pulled the day before the age update. (Aaarghhh!!!)

I think you've had the most talented youth squad!

Been unlucky a couple of times with Age.

when they come out doesn't really matter, as if they came out just after the update, they age in the youth school anyways.

whats important is which week they JOINED your academy... if they join in week 0 thats the best scenario as it gives the longest without aging.

2 new additions this morning to take my youth team up to a massive 8. Oh wait its back down to 6 as both of them were tragic.

At this rate i am going to not have a youth team.
2007-10-27 09:01:14
I got some decent arrivals this morning, had 6 spaces, got 6 in.

Sacked hopeless 6
kept
average 15
average 16
adequate 22
average 30
adequate 31.
2007-10-27 15:54:56
and if on Thursday none of them pop what do you do with them?
2007-10-27 16:03:51
Probably keep them all, more often than not i'm only going to get poor 22 and tragic 30 type of players to replace them. i tend to wait for the 2nd pop, more than 6 weeks and i sack, if spaces are needed then the 6 weekers get the heave ho as long as they're not too close to being pulled.
2007-10-27 18:15:41
hmmm so you and sutty dont get rid of the "rubbish" youths after week 1. *rtg wonders if this is why he only has a tiny youth squad now"
2007-10-27 18:47:26
You need to get a balance.

Some players that pop every 6 weeks or so could generate money if you get them at average 30 for example, then they come out at excellent....bit of luck with stats and age and there you go.

At the same time, you might pull somebody who will only come out good, but I had somebody like that who came out at 16, with nice striker stats and he went for over £200k.

Unless a player is really really crap, and / or you have all your spaces filled it's normally worth giving them some time.........

If you keep a rubbish youth, eg 31 poor for example, and wait to see how long he pops you could get lucky.

a 3.5 week popper, even starting at poor 31 could be a gem with a bit of luck when you pull them.

Everyone should get the hang of it the more youths they pull.

My general rule is, unless they come out very good or better, sack, with a few exceptions with regard to talent, or how long they have left til I pull.

And if you can afford it, you are prob better off with more youths than less, unless you really keep drafting in rejects........

meh.

Cant remember his talent but my second pull in sokker was this guy, pulled at "good"

Samuel Hillcoat, age 16
value: 51 000 £, wage: 705 £
very good form

tragic stamina,
poor pace,
hopeless technique,
adequate passing,
good keeper
tragic defender
tragic playmaker
hopeless striker

1419673

Later transferred for over 1.4m, which gave me a nice wee windfall, more than i had originally sold him for.
2 Scotland caps aswell.

An example of what Culture19 said in his post.

Here is 2 of my juniors which will be pulled next week.

Daffyd Cadogan very good 1 Reject
Robin Clayfield very good 1 Reject

Cadogan came in as poor 31 and has a 4.8 talent and will hit excellent on thursday.
Clayfield came in as unsat 29 and has a talent of 3.83 and will also hit excellent on thursday.

They not exactly the greatest juniors in sokker but with a lil luck on skill placements and age, both could earn me some decent money.
2007-10-27 22:53:22
Yeah, so with a little luck, if Clayfield is 18, with a nice spread of skills, not too much wasted on stamina or keeping he could be a very nice youngster to train up.

:)

Or to cash in........
2007-10-30 17:28:13
Ian MacLeverty very good 1 Reject
Martin MacLardie solid 1 Reject
Danny Rome very good 1 Reject
Adam MacNicol incredible 3 Reject
Robert Fulton good 3 Reject
Kyle McNicoll adequate 5 Reject
Alistair Lecky good 7 Reject
Cameron MacDulothe very good 7 Reject
Andy Lawrie formidable 8 Reject
Dylan Greig good 9 Reject
Lex Constable average 15 Reject
Finlay MacO'Shannaig good 17 Reject
Lachlan Rose adequate 24 Reject
Louis Molloy adequate 26 Reject
James MacNab average 28 Reject

Adam MacNicol has a talent of 3.25. He'll be Brilliant +2 when he's pulled. Has anyone had such a player with both talent and high skill? What can I expect if he's half decent?
2007-10-30 17:40:22
Half decent?

19

poor stamina, unsatisfactory keeper
average pace, average defender
good technique, very good playmaker
good passing, very good striker

very decent....same skills - ish, 18 :)

Rubbish?

20

weak stamina, weak keeper
unsatisfactory pace, adequate defender
unsatisfactory technique, very good playmaker
solid passing, good striker

I pulled this 4 week popper a few weeks back, he popped to brilliant the day he was pulled...
Duncan Wilkinson, age: 18
value: 72 300 £, wage: 960 £
club: Heartov Midlothian, country: Scotland
very good form, tragic tactical discipline

average stamina, tragic keeper
very good pace, tragic defender
very good technique, weak playmaker
weak passing, solid striker

One week of pace training and he popped then one week of striker training and he popped so high sublevels. even with the high stamina he was a decent pull but if the stamina and keeper fairy is good to you..........
