Jock's Burger Joint on Sauchiehall Street has a 5 star rating I believe.
if he's over from the states burgers might not be the best choice :P
The Ubiquitous Chip is in the West End as is one devonshire gardens, both pretty upmarket
if you like indian food there is a restraunt called Mother India, close to the Kelvin Halls, best ever!!
Decent fish restraunt is Gamba, its city centre
to be honest your stuck for choice, if you want michellin star Braidwoods in dalry is only 30 mins by car from city centre, its amazing, affordable and not pretentious, you can wear jeans and dont have to worry about etitiquite

another michelin star one is Camerons in the Hilton, was there last week and the restraunt was being refurbished so check first, its pretty expensive, you will meet celebs, footie players, and other over paid pretentious c**ks in there

the blue oyster fish restaraunt ,its a mighty fine establishment in the city centre renowned for the fish,also greggs ,good sausage rolls.
