The county town of Lanarkshire, Hamilton is situated in west central Scotland and serves as the main administrative centre of the South Lanarkshire council area. It is the third largest town in Scotland, situated 12 miles south-east of Glasgow, and 35 miles south-west of Edinburgh on the south bank of the River Clyde at its confluence with the Avon Water.

History

The town of Hamilton was originally known as Cadzow (the "z" representing the letter yogh, ie pronounced Cadihou), but was re-named in honour of James Hamilton, 1st Lord Hamilton. The Hamilton family constructed many landmark buildings in the area including the Mausoleum in Strathclyde Park, which has the longest echo of any building in the world.

Aye, read that and couldn't decide whether it was Lanarkshire or South Lanarkshire.

Cheers.

:)

If you put Lanarkshire, or south Lanarkshire I'm sure it will get there provided Hamilton is provided on the package.......didn't know it was the third largest town in Scotland.......

Hmmmm, would have figured that to be Dundee, or Aberdeen.

Might be third largest town.

Aberdeen would be 3rd largest City.

Ah right, yeah, that would explain it :)

I made an incorrect assumption...feck it, *gets coat*

Do the sheep count when they're working out size? :P

If someone had stopped me in the street and asked where Hamilton was I wouldn't have known where to send them and asked if they knew which town it was near, .. thought it was a little village.

I don't think sheep can work much of anything out. Counting would be beyond there capabilities for sure.

If your asking do sheep count as part of the population of Aberdeen. Well if you take in the Shire's population aswell you could be looking at more sheep in Aberdeen than bicycles in Beijing.

However I don't think sheep can ride bicycles. So not sure if its a worthwhile comparison.

Beware the Aberdonian who like a nice bit of Pork in a leg of Lamb.

Nine million sheep in Aberdeen... could be a massive hit.
