Subject: Horse Racing Game

2008-10-20 11:55:05
I recently started playing this game and it seems quite decent.

Browser based real time game where you get a stable and start with 4 horses. you can go to the auctions and buy yearlings on a weekly basis and you can hire apprentice jockeys and train them up aswell as training your gee gee's. You can also hire professional jockeys for a better ride (ooo mrs) but it's expensive and they usually come on a short term contract.

If anyone is interested then...

http://www.trackking.org/

If anyone signs up then they have a decent mentor programme there but like here, everything you need to know is explained in the rules. I'm happy to hand out any advice if anyone asks. i have a whole 3 weeks experience :)

If you like Sokker because you train players to improve them, and, best of all, come match-day you actually get to see them play.. you should really check out this Track King game. It's gone straight to my number one love, (don't tell the Missus!)

It's far more involved than training a few players for a specific position. You can train several horses for different distances, race them all over the world (once they're good enough) and you can race three, four times a week, (with different horses obviously unless you're trying to kill them), AND, you can watch them run in the same way you watch your team here.

Yep, all true.

And

Those with horsey plus can create invitationals and invite me and deezi to race against them :)

What GK never mentioned is that you as a stable manager also get paid, all you can do with this money is gamble so a nice wee extra in the game too although the more you win the faster your stable gains prestige.

You can also breed your own yearlings, there's actually so much to this game that it's best to start slowly and get into it as it were.. As long as you do the most important thing and enter a couple of races a week you'll all be fine.

Deezi, what's your stable name and local track?

ive just signed up

i'm avoiding it like the plague...

it sounds tempting enough, but knowing how i get addicted to these sorta games, its dangerous to even poke my head around and see whats going on.

Lol, i'm like that on sokker every time a "coach" thread pops up :)

I always give in in the end though.....see you there :)

my stables called Getitupye at Glasgow Clyde Racecourse.

If anyone does join then the first thing you should do is get a mentor and read the help/rules page. The help forum as well usually has all the info you need.

If you want gimme a shout in game if you need any help with anything.

What's your stable name Artikis?

I'll get in touch with you all there and create an Invitational for us all to race together. But that would be a few weeks away as I have to raise the purse money.

Dandy, you call yourself lucky in TK? Because there's a stable called Next years Glue with owner lucky created yesterday.

Thats me.

Well I'd pull Knee Charm out of it's second race or it will end up knackered. Horses you are given to start with just don't have the physical stats to cope with races that close and it will be exhausted, takes ages to recover them from that. (Or seems like ages)

If it's anything like mine when I joined the computer had set those races up for you and you haven't actually done a thing yet.

Take 50k of your 250k and head over to the auctions, buy a horse no more than 5 years old with a rating around 34/35. This should near guarantee you a win every week if you pick and choose your race.

And make sure you have an empty stable to house another horse.

Hire an admin, increase stall capacity by 1 or 2, buy some training time (2 hours per horse should do for the first couple of weeks, same with vets), buy a horse. That should have you near skint and worried and you can remain that way for the rest of the season. ;)

It's easy to go broke fast, I was on 13k left and looking at losing 30k a week without any wins. I took a gamble and went 35k OD to buy just such a horse. Yesterday it ran first and another horse placed second so I'm financially okay now.
