I've been have issues with my pc for a while and amongst other things i find that i can watch my sokker matches better on explorer rather than firefox where it mostly looks like i'm watching slo-motion replays with lots of jumpy bits and i miss half the action, anyway....
I downloaded ie8 onto my desktop then ran/installed it from there but i dont have any launch icons, normally (like firefox) when i install a browser i get an icon on my desktop, start menu and "all programmes" but nothing, just the same run/install box.
I can get into ie but it's a pain going around the houses, anyone know what went wrong or what i should do?

The thing your clicking to launch it does it have a right click menu to pick copy?
If so you can then paste as shortcut on your desktop.
Does this fix your problem? Not sure if Ive read it right.

That's the thing, i have no launch icon. The only thing on my desktop is the install thingy. I've done this and installed it but nothing has appeared to let me access it.
If i click on the ie icon again it just starts extracting the files again.
The only way i can currently get on to ie is by clicking start> All programmes> windows update. Then something opens looking for updates but i can just move on from there.

Ok, how about.
Go to google or whatever your homepage is.
Then right click the webpage and pick create shortcup then paste that onto your desktop.

Have you tried uninstalling firefox and flash and installing the latest versions of both?
About IE - Did you go into your program files folder to see if it was installed there?
I had a similar problem (but not with IE). Nothing in start menu or on the desktop and nothing in program files. Turns out it had installed into AppData, a hidden folder inside your user folder. Thanks Vista!

Yes, i've uninstalled firefox and uninstall/re-install flash about once a week, sometimes the first time i watch a match after it's been reinstalled then it's ok but if i or the kids go onto any other site first then try watching a match on sokker it's extremely jumpy.
I just used the google icon just now and got a pop up saying that i couldn't use this shortcut as the application has to be updated to work with ie8, so i closed it, then it opened anyway. Stumped!
So, erm. How do i look in my programme files? :)

Can you search for explorer and see where its installed?
If your Vista just click on the windows icon and there is a search box there.
Previous windows you need to bring up a find files window or something with similar name, this can also be got from your start menu.
Never done a windows training course but I'll bet its earier than Reekie's problem.
