I like your attitude to Whisky Langhe! Try the Singleton of Glen Ord if you can get your hands on some. I make it! Not to be mistaken witht he Singleton of Dufftown, which is bland pish.

You know it's cheaper to buy it in Belgium than in the UK? Though you dont find that many specialized shops down here. Luckily most warehouses sell a couple of decent ones and in my town theres this one shop with quite some choice: Click and give advice (page 6 onwards) (keep in mind I'm a poor student though :P
Are taxes on alcohol that high in the UK?

Wowm there's somenice collectors whiskys on that list, I wouldn't mind a few of them for my collection. Brora distillery shut down years ago and is pretty rare. As are a few others on that list. Personally my favourite is craggamore, but whisky is so subjective. It really comes down to personal taste. I can't stand anything heavily peated which pretty much rules out the Islay malts but other people swear by them. My advice would be to get a flavour mao, find a whisky you enjoy then try ones around the same area of the flavour map. Tax here is terrible, and getting worse every year, working in a Distillery does have it's benefits though. ;)

My old man worked at cambus distillery before it was shut down years ago - if i remember correctly we couldve moved to arbroath/montrose way as he had the chance of a job up there , in the end it was too far from home/family so he knocked it back

Well, given I'm a poor student I usually buy 'common' ones.
During the last 2.5 years I had a Cragganmore 12, Aberlour 10, Scapa 1991 (Gordon and MacPhail), Bowmore Surf, the Glenlivet 12, Auchentoshan 12, Glendronach 12.
Personnaly the Cragganmore and the Auchentoshan were my preferred ones. Worst one by far was the Glendronachach :p

i like jura. I find with the peaty malts that if you add just a tiny drop of water it opens them up and they become silky smooth and the flavours and aromas come thru really well.

peaty whisky tastes just like where it came from. A BOG!
