You got my vote, you are new and maqoma has proven himself :)
2009-12-07 23:26:51
weird logic: someone who has proven himself isnt needed, but a new person is? And 'new' is quite weird itself if you see what he has coached

I do think so. And Newton himself isn't very new to coaching NTs to begin with anyway. :)
2009-12-07 23:46:45
Allright is he been a coach for U21 here in holland i dont think so ;)
2009-12-07 23:47:40
True, you're right about that :)

Maqoma is good very good that it is not believe me. But I think someone else should do it.Mr_Newton has earned his stripes here in sokker. Mr_Newton will think otherwise, other tactics, a fresh breeze through Sokker U21. Why not?

What kind of lengths do you think you would prefer on different positions in the following tactics:

4-4-2 two wingers, offside
4-3-3 no wingers, no offside
5-4-1 one winger, neutral defense

(I realise this will ammount to a lot of speculation as you haven't had the chance to play a game with the new ME.)

The news is pretty clear about the (dis)advantages of height I think:

Players height, the taller the player is, decides on how well they perform on a heading duel with opponents, on the other hand the shorter they are will allow the player to speed up quicker (but maxim speed is still same for short and tall players and depends on their pace skill).

about U21 i prefer 4-3-3 no offside or offside...

i have used these tactics in two games against Poland

4-3-3 offside
4-3-3 no offside

4-4-2with offside i prefer with only 1 winger because with high line-up of def, in my opinion, is more important have concentration of players in the middle to avoid through ball and because because if the opponent is playing with 5 defenders cancel two of our players(the wingers).
I also like 4-4-2 without winger, expecially if it can't make difference.

5-4-1 in my opinion is not good tactic for the U21 selection, because the defenders are not yet complete and is often the mistake for the lack of technique or the lack of pm, so it is important to have 2 or 3 strikers, perhaps with skill "defense", which exploit these errors.
I prefer not to have 5 players that can make mistakes with frequency. :D

I never played with 5 defenders in 3 seasons with ItalyU21 :))

i like offensive style :D

naturally, i speak about last ME

I'm affraid you misunderstood my question. I would like to know what kind of length (tall, average or short) you'd prefer on all positions. For instance, in a 4-x-x you might want to have all tall defenders, or a mix of average and tall defs. To give a complete example:

4-4-2 two wingers offside

backs: average
center defs: average
center mids: average
wingers: average
strikers: average

I used 'average' on each position in order not to spoil the question. If you differentiate more between positions, feel free to add a position to this list.

I hope my question is clearer now. :-)

lol

yes...i understand now :D

Of course I can speak only at theory level because we don't know yet the influence of the height in the ME.

It's difficult say now, i think there are some positions where we have already realized that can be an advantage to be low, for example wingers or lateral defenders(expecially in 5-x-x, i speak about general match).
And naturally using the wing, you must have at least one tall striker and perhaps another of medium height.
Also depends on the height of opposition defenders, really difficult to say now.

maybe with 4-3-3 can be interest use a tall central striker and low lateral strikers..

about the central midfielders, the height could be very important for balls kicked by keepers or might be important for head shots in the defensive phase during throw-ins or corner kicks ofopponent.

these are all hypotheses, we must look at least 2-3 games to judge new ME and mainly depends on the height of the opponents

:)

However I did not vote for you. Thanks for trying. You had a chance here, only the most did like more to give a Dutch manager the job.
