Subject: [NT]Nederland - Roemenië

This Saturday we play the first friendly of the season, which is probably the most difficult game of the season also :) We'll play against Romania, my former national team, current unbeaten world champions:

Roemenië Sound uitspraak (info·uitleg) is een republiek in Zuidoost-Europa, grenzend aan de Zwarte Zee, Bulgarije, Servië, Hongarije, Oekraïne en Moldavië. Op een grondgebied van 238.391 km² heeft Roemenië 22.215.421 (2009) inwoners.

Op Hongarije en Moldavië na, wordt het Romaanse Roemenië ingesloten door Slavische landen. Naast de verscheidenheid aan culturen en hun invloed, de taal en de religie, bezit Roemenië veel ongerepte natuur. Het landklimaat (koude winters, warme zomers) en een dwars door Roemenië lopende bergketen, de Karpaten, zorgen voor diverse landschapssoorten. In het land zijn er verder nog brede zandstranden, een delta, maar ook oerbossen en vlaktes.

Het grootste deel van de bevolking is Roemeens-orthodox en de grondwet garandeert vrijheid van godsdienst. De Roemeense taal behoort tot de Romaanse taalgroep en is dus verwant aan het Italiaans, Frans, Spaans en Portugees. Vooral in de schrijftaal is veel herkenning te ontdekken, voor degene die één van deze talen spreekt.

De hoofdstad Boekarest, ook wel Klein Parijs genoemd, is een grote toeristische attractie en veruit de grootste stad van Roemenië. Ten tijde van het Sovjetregime nam Roemenië al een aparte plaats in het Oostblok in met een relatief grote onafhankelijkheid in de buitenlandse politiek. Roemenië is sinds 2004 lid van de NAVO en sinds 2007 van de Europese Unie. Het toetredingsverdrag van de EU is begin 2005 getekend en op 1 januari 2007 geëffectueerd. Roemenië is het op zes na grootste land in populatie en het op acht na grootste land van de EU in oppervlakte.

Pretty strong victories for Nederland, only one win for Romania and one draw. Most of the meetings played lots of seasons ago, though.
We'll use our best players, Romania will use a combination of first team players with reserve players, but those reserves players are a bit better than our betters one or at least equal :)
Romania is unbeaten in the last 34 games, I am unbeaten in the last 41 NT games, a record may be destroyed this week :)) Or maybe a draw, so everyone can be happy :P
I'll try to find a proper tactic, though it's a very difficult game, our players should perform at their best.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to watch the game til Sunday evening (only the result), the game will be played in 3rd of March, my birthday is on 4th of March and I'll be somewhere in the mountains, with no internet connection (only on my weak phone :P) for all weekend ^_^
I hope we'll do a good game and to be a nice one to watch :)

De hoofdstad Boekarest, ook wel Klein Parijs genoemd, is een grote toeristische attractie en veruit de grootste stad van Roemenië.

Dat Boekarest 'Klein Parijs' wordt genoemd heeft niets met de schoonheid te maken, Boekarest is namelijk de lelijkste hoofdstad die ik tot nu toe heb gezien. Het heet enkel zo omdat Ceaușescu vanuit zijn paleis graag uitkeek op een straat die leek op de Champs-Élysées, maar dan in het klein.

Dat is echter het enige mooie wat Boekarest heeft, die straat en het paleis. Het paleis is echter gebouwd op de enige heuvel die Boekarest rijk is. Helaas moest daarvoor wel het volledige historisch centrum worden gesloopt.

Vond je dat paleis mooi...? ;)

I was a bit surprised that we managed to win, because the Romanian coach made a good prediction on our tactic :)... Very nice win!

What about the substitution in the 24th minute btw? :)

Great result, but we should have lost. 11 vs. 11 we were outplayed completely, 10 vs 11 we still didn't get much of the play. The chasm between defence and midfield got us in a lot of trouble. Anyway, congratulations with the win and if this kind of luck holds, I'm a happy man.

i can't watch the game til tomorrow evening. It seems my luck is not over yet :p 42 undefeated games and nice chances for Nederland to go up in rankings!
