Here is a summary of my experience in Amsterdam....

I had really fun there... I wish I could stay a few more days but I hope I'll be back soon with my buddies instead of those two girls I was with.

The food wasn't so cheap but I enjoyed a nice meal in an italian restaurant. I suggest you stay away for a greek restaurant called "Panagia" something. Really awful and it didn't worth it's money at all...! However there is a great place on the other side of the road. It's a bar with reggae music owned by a great bulgarian dude. With had so much fun on the last night. We drunk our asses (greek expresion meaning that we drunk way tooo much) and we only paid 4e for a ketama joint.

The prices are almost the same as in Greece except for drinks. You're quite cheaper than Athens. However what made a bad impression to me is that a) the water is sooooooo expensive (2e for 0,5ml?? In the hotel it had 3e for God's sake...) and b) that they don't bring water along with the food. Don't you drink some water??

You can buy water in the super markets for next to nothing. Once you have a bottle you can refill it nearly everywhere. All tap water is OK to drink. Bottled water in machines is quite expensive. Drinks in general are expensive and water is on the same price level for some reason. Don't ask me why. There are excellent Greek restaurants to be had, but you need the 'real' Greek ones. Generally speaking it pays to look at what other people are eating before deciding to go somewhere. The Dutch are still very poor gastronomes on average and the average restaurant level reflects that, especially in a city like Amsterdam where you can just snare the next dumb tourist who hasn't got a clue.
