Es tut mir Leid, aber mein Deutsch ist ganz nicht gut wann es zum schreiben kommt ;)
So I hope most of you understand English. (Feel free to translate it to German)
Next week, I'm spending 3.5 days in Berlin (Arrival Tuesday 14th around 3 pm, Leaving Saturday 18th 6 am) with a friend of mine. We have checked the internet about things we can do/visit over there, but of course it's better to have some 'local' people's opinion.
Maybe it is helpful to give advice if you know that we're both around the age of 21-22 and we're studying sciences (I'm into genetic engineering, my friend is more into electronics). Thus we'd like to visit one or more museums or places connected to science and we thought about the Museum für Naturkunde. Did anyone visit it (maybe on a schooltrip?) or heard opinions about it? Or are there other interesting Museums when it coms to science that you could recommend?
Secondly, I'm quite interested in airplanes and aviation (especially WW I and WW II), so we planned a visit to the Luftwaffenmuseum der Bundeswehr. Does anyone have experiences to share about this?
Thirdly, Germany has played an important role in history. So what is according to you the best museum about WorldWar I and II (if there are differen museums, please, mention them both). But Germany also has quite some interesting museums about the ancient civilisations (Egypt, Greece, ...). We would like to visit the Pergamonmuseum, but are there other interesting ones about this matter?
Next to my questions, are there any other Museums that are 'must have visited'? Just keep in mind we do NOT want to visit Art museums ;)
And one last question: would you recommend a visit to the 'Berliner Zoo'? Or is it just a normal zoo?
Thx in advance
If possible, reply in English, though I normally understand enough German ;)

Instead of the Museum für Naturkunde you could visit the Deutsches Technik- und Verkehrsmuseum. It's a big one with very much different things to see.

And you should visit the Berliner Fernsehturm to have a great view over Berlin. I mostly like this view in the evening when the sun goes down.

yes, it is a normal zoo, and the east-berlin "tierpark" is a bit more interesting (but maybe not for you ;-)
the "berlin zoo", as you may know from book, film and music was the name of the main railway-station in west-berlin. it has a scene like every main-railway-station in other cities, maybe with a bit more flair, which has gone nowadays a bit, but it´s still worth to go there.

thx, but I found it after you gave the name of the museum ;)
langhe,
by all your given interests, you have published here, I recommend you a visit to MUNICH!
GoTo "Deutsches Museum".
That fits your size completely ...
greets and have fun

Okay, I have a little question concerning Stuttgart : what's worth seeing in this city? Of course, I have google and appreciate the info it gives me a lot but an opinion form an insider or two would be better.
Is it possible to visit Daimler Stadium (or is it Mercedes-Benz Arena now?) on a weekday when there is no game or any other event? Just a plain seeing and admiring the stadium...
thanks!

thanks for changing the topic's name. maybe this one should be generally "what to see in Germany?"
still waitning for your replies as for Stuttgart ;)

I lived there 40 years ago, so I can´t tell you much about stuttgart today,
but as far as I know, you can visit the arena only on mondays and you must join a group to get in. price for the group is about 80 €. so it will get cheaper the more people want to get in.
if you are there on monday you can phone this number there to get more information
216 7539 (mr haas) from poland you must phone 0049 711 before
if you are only there on weekend, you may forget it.
the arena is embedded in "neckar-park", where you can visit some other things around sports and technique (for example car-museum of mercedes benz). it´s all not my cup of tea, but maybe yours ;-)

Hi, it's me again. This time I need some advice on what is truly worth seeing/visiting/doing in Frankfurt (am Main, of course). There's full of stuff on that on the Net, which, paradoxically, turns out to be a bad thing. Any hints are welcome. I'm especially interested in museums you can recommend and architecture pearls. Thanks!
What do you want to do there?
Do you want to make party?
Do you want to see Frankfurt's "sights"?

nice to see is the historical museum near römer (central city towards river main) with modell of city frankfurt before ww2 and changing exhibitions relating to actuel themes.
most people want to go to "schirn" immediately above historical museum, but people working there are very unfriendly and for many real arstists it doesn´t have good reputation.
most of frankfurts museums are on the other side of river main (sachsenhausen). for example filmmuseum, liebighaus and städel (both arts), "museum für Völkerkunde". all directly beneath one another at "museumsufer", the southside road along river main. most of them with parks around.
also worth to see is "senckenbergmuseum" (biology) and the "sternwarte" (astronomic), both directly at the old university (undergroundstation bockenheimer warte)
maybe you may visit "palmengarten" (plants from all over the world), but more interesting (and for free) is "botanischer garten" at the nortwest of palmengarten. both also not far away from old university. the part of the city is called westend.
if you are there on saturday, it´s worth to visit the fleemarket (flohmarkt) in offenbach, not the one in frankfurt (this one is very commercial). it is directly at river main. offenbach is just a few kilometers away from frankfurt. near the offenbach fleemarket is "hafen2", a nice club.
other music locations, if you want:batschkapp and elfer (directly at station eschersheim. "s-bahn" S6)
nachtleben. directly at konstablerwache (city)
brotfabrik. part of city is called "hausen". use underground U6 or U7 to "industriehof".
historical architecture in frankfurt often is a fake, because the buildings were destroyed in ww2. for example old opera and the "old" buildings in front of römer have been built in the 80´s and 90´s.
i have not much in common with religion, so i don´t know the dom and several old churches from inside ;-)
frankfurt has several bauhaus-style parts. for example ernst may buildings between ostpark and bornheim.
zeil, the big shoppingmile in central frankfurt has lost much of his flair the last 30 years. better visit "berger straße" in bornheim. a nice shopping road with many buildings from around 1900 to 1920. it starts near centre in the northeast. or take "schweizer straße" in sachsenhausen, but this one is very loud and busy.
old sachsenhausen is mainly for tourists. people from frankfurt don´t go there often.
but also worth to see.
and of course there are many skyscrapers in frankfurt. if you live there, you won´t mention them, sometimes even not if it is a new one ;-)
but if there isn´t stuff like that in your own hometown, you may find them interesting.

Hi Leute,
Bin in Köln zwieschen 10 und 12 Oktober, in einer Dienstreise bei der kölnischen Lebensmittelsausstellung. Gibt es jemanden von Köln der Zeit und Lust ein Bierchen mit mir auszulecken hat? :D
