Depends on what you're interested in. Really nice cities are Dresden, Hamburg, Berlin, Köln and many more.
köln and düsseldorf are always worth a visit. I live in the middle :)
Could you guys name some must-see places in Berlin, köln and düsseldorf so I can look them up in the internet?
Thanks a lot
Thanks a lot
First, what do you want to see? Sighseeing or more going out, have some drinks...
I would say Köln/ Düsseldorf is great for going out. Lots of bars. Düsseldorfs old town is famous to be "Die längste Theke der Welt", if you wanna translate this :P - a very high concentration of nice bars/restaurants/clubs - and beautiful places alongside the river rhine.
But for sightseeing, you should prefer cities like Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden.

ok I make a list for Hamburg/Düsseldorf/Köln. What is worth to see from my perspective
Hamburg:
Do a bustour to see the major sights, the lakes...
Dont miss a harbourtour on a boot. The harbour is big.
In the night you have to go to the Reeperbahn. You will have your fun :)
Düsseldorf:
I live here 28 years now, I would just enjoy the time here and focus the trip on the old town. Have a walk on the famous Königsalle, we say Kö (its for shopping, costly). Between the Kö and the Rhine is the old town. You dont need transportation here. Try our best beer, the "Altbier". Don't miss our favourites. Go to Uerige, Schlüssel, Schumacher and Füchschen and try their beer. Each of them have a bar in old town. They are very old, traditional Düsseldorf. Go alongside the river, its very beautiful. Some special tips from me: Try also the shots Killepitsch and Krumme. A special shot you will get in a bar called "Die Kneipe". Its on the way from "Bolker Straße" to "Ratinger Straße" - maps.google is your friend. There ask for a "Stress" - but fasten your seat belt before you drink :P
Cologne:
What I like here is the concentration of cocktail bars, especially next to "Zülpicher Platz". Cheap cocktails and a lot of nice locations you haven't been before. For sighseeing I can not even recommend the famous Dome. So concentrate on having fun here as well.
Berlin and Dresden I was long time ago. But great cities!

@ reddevil: the question is, what kind of attractions you want to see - the best pubs, cultural live, history, photo backgrounds ;)

Just a sight-seeing trip, I'd love culture, history and buildings
then I would do the tour Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden. Or if its too much, do Berlin only.

I search always only on one site, its working international. Especially good for cheap hostels. But you will find a lot of accomodations. On the left side you can choose what you're looking for
