Hello boys. I want to ask you something. I'm from Slovakia, it is known as state with the biggest automobile production per citizen. In Slovakia has factories VW, PSA and KIA. We are not such a rich state as some others, also don't have such a big economy as France for example. Average wage 800 €, minimal wage 300 €. Because of this, normal cars for us are small family cars (compacts) or large family cars.

Most often car is Škoda (Fabia, Octavia) automobile brand which is part of VW Group. Then it is other brands from VW and then french cars. Of course there are also many BMW, Mercedes etc. but normal man can't buy this kind of car.

I would like to know something about Renault in France. Here it is very common car (maybe 2nd or 3rd). Megane, Laguna, Clio... all are very popular. It's not expensive and has interesting design. Problem is with reliability. Renault is here known as one of the most cariositive cars. I know managment of Renault wants to put their level of quality higher, thanks to using methods from Nissan, but we will see... I have 2 questions:

1st: The worst thing here, is not that renault cars are bad in quality, but that their car service (when car is still in guarantee) and their consumer services are probably the worst of all automobile brands here. If you have some problem, they can't fix it, often they don't know what to do, they're cheating - they tell you it's fixed, you pay and find out nothing is better, often if you have something broken, they used not new, but used component to save money, everything takes long, they are arrogant, in fact you don't even have a feeling that they want to help you... They shit on you, after you buy a car they don't care anymore. I want to ask, if it is problem of our stupid postcomunist mentality (till '89 Slovakia as most of central and east Europe was communist country), that everyone just think how to piss off everyone else and save money for yourself or this is normal for Renault services everywhere, even in France...
I was in Renault showroom in Paris on Champs-Elysses and everything was great, noone bothering me, I could check the car as I want etc.

and 2nd: I would like, or I think about buying this car. About new Megane Grandtour. I'll wait on some test of reliability, 'cause I don't need it right now. But if I buy it, I prefer to buy and service it in France. So that's why I am asking about services outside of central Europe, but I heard that it's little bit more expensive in France then on Slovakia. Basic Renault Megane hatchback Authentique 1.6 cost 13 290 €. What about in France? I believe many of you has renault cars, so I wonder on you experiences.

My dad (is in France) had a Safrane, Laguna and Scenic, my mum (in France too) had a Clio and has a Modus now... I've never heard them having big problems with their car.
Only the clio had some injectors problems once...
Even before that we had R4, R14, R16 and R18 and we never had a major problem with them...

I'm really surprised to read your post to be fair. I've never been myself a fan of Renault but I wouldnt diss them from a quality point of view, rather more from an aesthetics one given thinking of it...

Old Renaults were okay. I think their cars are crap from cca year 2000. Let's take Laguna of 2nd generation. 2nd worst car what take reliability in his class. Also Megane and Clio wasn't basically in good condition. Scenic was maybe even worse then Laguna. And it's not only about ADAC statistics but also about experiences of people around me, who has(d) Renault car.

Every car sometime have some problem, and then it is on services to fix it. If they are correct and know something about it, it's okay. But if they act as here, or as in Czech Republic it's big problem and factor that I didn't buy their car because of this. I wonder if it problem of mentality of some people or it is general... Becuase not only Renault, also many, many other services are crappy... Maybe except premium cars as Mercedes, Lexus etc.

Hi, I need information. I would like to know, how much money you have to pay in France, if you have an old car. I mean like those old Mercedes (W124 etc.). I think in some countries in EU are some kind of "emission limits" and if you have an old car you have to pay some kind of taxes or I don't how to explain it. You know what I mean.

Nothing? There are not "emission limits" or taxes for those cars?
