A last question: Estas cosas me gusta también tenerlas. Why estan, not son?

The word "estas" can be traslate like a form of the verb "to be": estás = you are
but can be traslate too like the word "These": Estas (o estos) = these.

The only difference is the use of the sing " ´ "

No sé como se dice acento ni en inglés ni en alemán.

but maybe you want to say "las dos menos cuarto", which is "a quarter to two".

Yes... but that expression is unusual... maybe " son las dos menos cuarto". It means 15 minutes for two o'clock

Yes! In the exercise-book stands "son las dos menos cuarto". I thought it is a misstake... :-)

What means "a quarter past"? mas cuarto?

y cuarto - not más cuarto?

We never say "mas cuarto", we say "y cuarto"

Ex:

Quarter past seven -> las siete y cuarto

16:45 -> las cinco MENOS cuarto / viertel VOR fünf - dreiviertel fünf
