Good news. It looks like Malatsi's buyer plans to train him. Looks like defence right now.

EDIT: The manager is still busy with pace but will switch to defending during next season.

Malatsi actually went a little cheaper then I thought. Kubheka went for more then I expected (I got called out, so I wasn't around to bid him anyway).

Ok. Roster clean-up is underway. Would love to get it trimmed to the point where I could make some roster additions for this weekend's match.

Going to put links to all the dropped players here. Might make it a little easier for future managers to make recalls. Some players are being dropped due to skill deficiency. Many are older players who are being pushed by younger ones.

I just saw that there's a transfer topic for Archibald Mulekelayi. He's going to hit double superdivine pace/defender this season!

Archibald Mulekelayi, age: 24
club: Atletico Sataute, country: South Africa
value: 13 156 000 R, wage: 163 600 R
excellent form, unearthly tactical discipline

formidable stamina tragic keeper
divine pace superdivine defender
very good technique very good playmaker
solid passing very good striker

Aye. I kinda see superdivine pace as a bit of a waste. The training time would have more of an impact elsewhere. Not to discourage others, but I'm considering Archibald. I'll be doing midfield training for a while which he would benefit from.

Got the roster to the point where I can make additions. W00t! :) New to the team are:

Ronnie Chivuta, 24 yr old defensive midfielder of the Durban City club
Sibusiso Rapelego, 22 yr old defender & product of the Blue Bulls youth system. He already has 19 caps in U21 matches.

Clemens Mazibuko is on the TL. I've been close to dropping him from the NT. Doesn't have enough tackling to play inside, and doesn't have enough tech to play ... well anywhere really. Pretty much a set piece specialist, and he's not the team best at that.

Just a little reminder that I will (as I said earlier in the season) not be seeking re-election in South Africa.

Thanks for your time in the job. I'm sure it's much appreciated. I'm hoping one of the local guys will have a go at the job now.

Seca!!!! Pity you are not going to stay. I think you did a fantastic job. Good luck with your future managing positions and maybe you will return to "our shores" in the near future. Like MarcL said maybe it is time a local manager get the national side. I would love to manage the SA team, but at the moment I don't think I have 1) the experience and 2) the time. I am not going to tackle something if I know I am not going to be able to do it correctly. MarcL and Theunis would be the obvious choices, but MarcL is busy doing a sterling job at the under 21's, so how about it Theunis?

As for me I have time with internet both at work and at home.

What I just dont have are the skills. I have played this game for a long time but have never been much of an analyst of games and doubt that will change if I were to be NT coach so it is best SA that I dont become the manager.

WC Groups are announced.

1. Česká republika
2. Türkiye 0
3. South Africa
4. Malta
5. Sénégal
6. Misr

Turkey isn't the greatest draw at #2, but the bottom half of the group is very weak. Should have great GD.

Want to reconsider your resignation? ;)

I was hoping one of the local managers would step up but none yet.

Oh, good luck with qualifying back at home with Canada!

Aye. I've thrown my hat in with Canada. I haven't coached the home team for a while.

I'd also encourage domestics. You learn a lot running an NT, and there are always people around willing to help. It's not as daunting a task as it might appear. :)

Guys, did you read that? Somebody go for it!
2009-08-23 16:30:35
Definitely not me. Maybe in 2 seasons time. Right now I am busy trying to work out tacics for next season as well as buy and build a new team after the massive sales i did last few days.

as nobody wants to give it a try :) i ll run for nt :)
