Things haven't been too rosy for the national team this season. So far our results have been:
WCQ: P7 W2 D1 L4 F12 A24
Friendly: P2 W0 D0 L2 F1 A4
There are about 4 weeks left in the season, and I thought I should report on the status of the team.
I've studied all our results carefully and settled on what I think is our best formation: 5-3-2. We used this shape when beating Ecuador 4-0 earlier this season, and when going down only 2-0 to a strong Belgian side in a friendly. I will be reverting to this formation for the rest of the season.
Next, I will look at the players we have at our disposal, by position.

Goalkeepers:
To be honest, we only have one that is good enough; Sibonelo Lathan. On the two occassions he hasn't played, we've let in a bunch of unexpected goals. Zwane is a distant second as his understudy.
On the plus side, we've got a bunch of young goalkeepers coming through. Abraham Wuest (19) and Mark Hartley (20) stand out and will shortly force Zwane into retirement.

Defenders:
We have 4 defenders with divine skill but they each have problems. Two, Nteo (23) and Mabedi (23) are simply not quick enough. Yohane (26) and Goliath (22) both have modest speed and aren't at the peak of stamina, forcing me to use one to back up the other.
On the plus side, we have a whole bunch of defenders in the formidable to incredible range, many of whom are youngish and getting trained. Baloyi (23) and Rodrigues (20) look secure in their spots for some time to come. Mabotsa (24) looks likely to secure a spot soon. The final spot is in the hands of Ngaduana (21). He could also use a bit more pace but is good enough for now.
In all, the defence looks promising for the future, perhaps lacking a little in pace overall.

Midfielders:
In general, I'm not happy with our midfield. Our best playmaker is Lekhuleng (25) but the rest of his skills are modest. I've reluctantly left Shongwe (25) out of the starting lineup because he's in a bot team, I don't have skill updates since early December, and his lack of pace partially offsets his quality playmaking/passing skills.
Chacho (24) has similar skills to Shongwe and has fared quite well when I've played him. His lack of pace too is my only concern. Much the same applies to Makhanya (27).
Madigage (25) has long been the star of the team. Oddly enough, he almost earns his place in midfield by default. He has quality all round abilities with no weaknesses but doesn't really stand out in any department. I've experimented with him a little, but for now he has to form the basis of our midfield.
Mabizela (23) is another player that earns his place by overall quality. He doesn't have major ability in primary skills but his pace and passing ability almost force his selection. I'm actually not sure about him, and think that he and Chacho may be competing for a spot, depending on whether I feel pace or playmaking is needed most on the day.
We don't have much coming through amongst the youngsters. Thabo Ngobe (21) and Jabulani Augustine (19) are probably best of those but have some work to do to break through.

Strikers:
Quite frankly, they're not good enough. Fortunately, we've got some top class youngsters on their way, hopefully in a season or two.
Greyling (27) has been a good source of goals in the past but I've felt he's not quick enough anymore, keeping him in the squad for emergencies. Behr (23) is my first choice at the moment but Leonard Permall (21) has very similar skills and could be pushing for his spot soon.
Makhaye (21) has taken over the position as our best pace striker from Pono (24).
South Africa's hopes seem to lie with youngsters like Lane (20) and Juwayeyi (21). They can already outshoot the first team but need pace and technique to be the complete. Other youngsters like Khanyile (19), Matshitse (20), Nhlapo (20), Tau (18), and Lakay (19) are all potential future NT players.

Great update.
I will be changing to pace training in about 2 weeks soon after Westerhoef and Makhanya pop in playmaking.
I have always believed that the combination of passing and playmaking is more important than pace and playmaking.
I dont know but isn't a pace of about solid enough for midfielders provided the other skills are okay.
Will train technique around week 5 of next season.
If you find good players in NT notify. At the meoment I only have R5m but will sell some players soon to ensure I have R10m+.

Yes I am also a beleaver that PM and passing is the best on PM especially in the middle of the park as far as I am concerned. Or my attacking midfielder at least. My wingers well I want more pace and passing and less PM on them just because of my tactics. Pace almost like stamina they can never have enough of. Let me know if u are planning selling some of those midfielder because I am seriously in the market for a defensive midfielder
Finding that balance between pace and skills isn't easy.
The main thing is that the midfielders must be able get possession to be able to use their playmaking and passing skills, either getting to the ball first, tackling an opponent, or receiving a pass.
I'll try to keep a balance of the different types of midfielders in team, since we don't have players really good at all aspects.

That is currect Marcl. Finding a balance is the tricky point. And you know what u want from that position that u are playing the player. Simple as that, when you do the tactic u decide do I want this oke to be running long distance or do I need this oke to hang back and tackle. And u get players to suite ur tactics
The managers of our strikers have updated me with their progress, and I'm happy to report that we've got a selection problem because the youngsters, Permall and Makhaye, are progressing quickly.
Pono has slipped behind a bit after missing training due to injury. Behr is still the number one choice, for now.
Greyling has been released from the squad. He served us well but his time is over.
For this weekends match, I've had a really difficult task deciding which strikers to play. Despite his relative lack of form, I've changed my mind and opted to start with Makhaye alongside Behr. He deserves the chance in the rematch after putting 3 past Ecuador in the first round. I do plan to bring on Permall for his chance in the second half though.
In the midfield, Madigage will play the sweeping/holding role, supplying our two playmakers, Lekhuleng and Chacho. Mabizela will be on the bench and can adequately fill whatever role is needed should there be an injury.
The back five will be Baloyi, Yohane/Goliath, Ngaduana, Rodrigues, and Mabotsa. Lathan has fully recovered from his injury and will be back in goals.
Hopefully we dominate this game like we did last week but actually win it too.

good luck!
and what is the level of yohane and goliath pace and stamina?
maybe their managers can work on that?
