I see that hellsangel is trying to organise an U21 World Cup, and that he's done it before.

Should we enter?

Why Not.

Kinda what I was thinking. :)

Quote from the forum:

"It will probably be the same as last time: as from the 1/8 finals of the senior World Cup. So there are still 5 weeks in the new season before the qualifications for the U21 WC start. "

lets give it a go

There's a possibility that they will be setting a full program with an U21 World Cup plus a Mini World Cup for those that didn't qualify. Will be fun if they get it organised.

Our first match was meant to be against Hong Kong, but they've arranged a friendly instead.

That means that we win 5-0 by default and I'll be trying to set up a friendly for our U21 team for this week.

Booked an U21 friendly with Germany. Their opponents for this week are also a no show.

Germany are the second highest ranked team in the qualifiers, so this should give us some idea of our chances in our group.

Managers have been very good about sending me player updates, so I'll be making the shortlist of players in the squad soon.

The draw has been done for the U21 World Cup and here is our group:

Group D:
1. Ceská republika
2. Bosna i Hercegovina
3. Brasil
4. South Africa

We were lucky to scrape through the qualifications with a surprise draw against Portugal, so we can't expect too much at the World Cup. We didn't get the worst of draws though. Some of the other groups look really tough.

Brazil beat us comfortably 6-0 in qualifying, while the Czechs are the seeded team in the group and bound to be strong. I'll have to do some research about the Bosnians.

Right, the U21 World Cup starts tomorrow! Here's the squad from which the team is likely to be chosen.

Keepers:
Hartley, Wuest, Skosana

Defenders:
Rodrigues, Solomos, Mhlanga, Nxumalo, Maseko, Malashe, E. Bax, Rapeane

Midfielders:
Khambule, Mazibuko, Tavlibudine, G. Bax, Makhanya, Nzama, De Klerk

Strikers:
Khanyile, Lakay, Portgieter, Matshitse

Our first match is against Brazil who beat us 6-0 a couple of weeks ago, a tough way to start. Still, we'll be hoping to do against them what we did against Portugal!
