Depending on how the plans work out, we may be competing in the Mini World Cup (teams that didn't qualify for the World Cup) and the U21 World Cup next season (all players currently 20 or younger qualify).

I'm going to post some info about the players in each position, to give trainers an idea of where they stand.

GOALKEEPERS

Sibonelo Lathan is much better than any other keeper we've got. Some are quicker than him, but none are anywhere near his keeping ability. He's quick enough and passes well enough. If any of the others want to take over as number one, they'll have to train their keeper skills.

Ngabo Zwane is getting old now and is just barely hanging onto the keeper reserve spot. A couple of the youngsters match him in keeping and/or passing but he still has the pace to hold them off, for now.

Abraham Wuest U21 is promising. He could use some improvement to his passing but is definitely in contention for the number one jersey in the U21 team.

Cyril Raboroko U21 is a decent shotstopper but needs a lot of pace training to be a contender.

Mark Hartley U21 has got the nod ahead of Wuest in recent matches because of his superior pace, passing and form but he does need to improving his keeping to ensure his place.

Kevin Skosana U21 is quick but needs to work on his passing and keeping. He's younger than the others and has potential.

DEFENDERS

Lucas Yohane is a fantastic tackler but is lacking in key areas. I would prefer more pace and technique, especially. He's getting on a bit and not likely to improve much. He's a regular for now but he'll be feeling the pressure from some youngsters soon. Note: He needs to max his stamina.

Clyde Nteo and Humphrey Mabedi are in the same boat. They are both great tacklers but need a lot of pace training to be a factor. They're 23 years old and could still improve.

Clyde Goliath is only a notch behind Yohane defensively but has pace and technique as well. If he has a weakness it is his passing, but his place in the first team looks secure. Note: He needs to max his stamina.

Humphrey Baloyi is a good all round defender with a secure spot in the first team. If he is vulnerable, it's that his tackling could be better. He, like the others listed next, are a bit behind defensively compared with the first four.

Ngabo Rodrigues U21 is much the same as Baloyi in terms of skills, and he's three years younger. He's lacking a bit in technique but is a quality player otherwise.

Norman Ngaduana has decent all round ability but could use primarily more pace, and a bit more technique.

Augusto Solomos U21 tackles well but is generally moderate in other areas. He looks good enough to be sure of a spot in the U21 team though.

Simon Ramakgopa also tackles well, but is poor otherwise. As a 21 y/o now, he could still improve but must work on most of his secondaries, pace being the most important.

Walter Mhlanga U21 is similar to Solomos and Ramakgopa in that he tackles well, but lacks secondaries. He falls somewhere between the two in overall ability but could be useful for the U21 team. Pace and technique are the two areas he needs to focus on.

Carlos Mabotsa is a high quality all round player. He could use a bit more tackling ability, but his secondaries, especially his pace, more than make up for that. He should be a first team regular for some time. Note: He needs to max his stamina.

Seuntjie Permall is a difficult player to guage. Like Mabotsa, he's a decent tackler but more would be preferable. He's generally good overall but is let down badly by his passing. That's not a skill generally vital for defenders, but it's what seperates the others in the team from him.

Sam Rapeane U21 is our best 19 y/o defender at the moment but does need to do a lot of work on his pace.

Musa Nxumalo U21 has modest secondaries but has enough pace and tackling to make an impression in the U21 World Cup.

Brandon Mbambo is still young enough that he might improve but for now needs to work on his technique and pace, along with his tackling if he wants to break through into the first team.

Zane Motale and Jacky Du Plessis have been two difficult players for me to guage. Their defence really should be better, but they make up for it with good all round skills. I've included them in the team a few times, but it's always a tough decision.

Mongi Maphalla must get a mention despite being 23 already. He's quick with decent technique and could be a factor if his defence improved.

Other contenders for the U21 squad include Ernest Bax, Mongalo Modise, Henry Bapela, Michael Malashe, and Khalil Maseko. They all need to improve either or both of their pace and technique, along with their defence in the long term.

MIDFIELDERS

Ntsu Lekhuleng is a quality playmaker with decent secondaries. If only he had the passing to match his playmaking. At 25, he's not likely to improve much but should be competing for the third midfield spot for some time.

Robin Shongwe is unfortunately now in a bot team. This always leaves his current fitness in question. He's a great playmaker/passer but lacks pace.

Jacky Chacho is the logical replacement for Shongwe. He has similar overall skills and is a year younger. Pace is not vital in central midfield, but I'd prefer if he had more of it. Still, he's always a contender for that third spot.

Michael Makhanya is on the fringes on the team and getting on in years. His skills are similar to Chacho and Shongwe but favouring technique.

Tebogo Westerhof has good overall skills (his only weakness is defence) and competes with the others above for that third spot in midfield. He has a slight edge of them as a 23 y/o in terms of potential improvement.

Eddie Madigage is a high quality defensive midfielder, probably the best overall player in the team. His place in midfield is secure.

Thabo Ngobe is a decent playmaker but lacks secondaries. Passing should be his primary focus, followed by technique. As a 21 y/o, he can still improve.

Jabulani Augustine U21 unfortunately doesn't have the passing to match his playmaking. His technique is badly lacking too, but he does have some pace and could be important for the U21 squad. Note: He needs to max his stamina.

Wesi De Klerk U21 also needs to improve his passing to complement his playmaking. He could use a bit more pace but has sufficient technique to make him an important part of the U21 squad. Note: He needs to max his stamina.

Samuel Mabizela has made the spot of winger his own. As a 23 y/o with no obvious weaknesses, he looks secure in his position for some time.

Edward Khambule U21 is a promising 19 y/o. Like most players his age, he does need to improve in most departments for the long term but he could be useful to the U21 squad as he is. His short term weakness is his passing. Note: He needs to max his stamina.

Gary Makhanya U21 needs to work on his technique, passing and pace. As has 18 y/o, he has potential, and may get a call up for the U21 squad. Note: He needs to max his stamina.

Gilbert Bax U21 shows promise. His technique is badly lacking, but he's also a possibility for the U21 squad. Note: He needs to max his stamina.

Clemens Mazibuko U21 looks a certainty for the U21 winger position. He needs to work on his technique. Note: He needs to max his stamina.

Sidney Bable U21 is quick and may be a contender for a wing position though he lacks passing.

Brad Mabotsa is being used as a striker for his club, but could also become a decent attacking midfielder. He has fair overall skills and could still improve, being 21 years old.

FORWARDS

Daniel Lane U21 is our best shooter. Unfortunately he needs a lot of work in the pace and technique departments.

Nuro Juwayeyi is our second best shooter, but also lacks the pace and technique to be a first team regular.

Leonard Permall is our third best shooter and is on the verge of a regular starting position. He just lacks a little pace and technique to secure a spot.

John Behr is our best technique striker, and decent pace along with it. He should be in the starting lineup for a while yet, though the others around him are younger.

Nasief Makhaye is our best pace striker and should be secure in his spot for a while.

Wayne Pono has lost his spot to Makhaye. As a 24 y/o, he's unlikely to take it back but remains important to the squad in case of injuries.

Cyril Khanyile U21 is a 19 y/o with promise. Like all young strikers, he will need to keep working on his pace, technique and striker but he looks an important part of the U21 squad. Note: He needs to max his stamina.

Tsepo Matshitse U21 could develop into a quality striker, already showing quality in technique. More pace and shooting will help him, but he will be considered for the U21 squad.

Jan Nhlapo U21 could use more technique but could make the U21 squad.

Gordon Tau U21 shows promise as an 18 y/o. He needs more pace and technique, and this cup probably has come to soon for him. Note: He needs to max his stamina.

Gordon Lakay U21 will probably pose some selection problems for this selector. His shooting unfortunately doesn't macth up to his pace and technique, but he may be good enough to make the U21 squad. Note: He needs to max his stamina.

Randall Sibaya U21 has potential but needs to work on his pace before being considered.

Sidney Bable U21 is quick and may be a factor for U21 selection despite his less than ideal shooting.
