This post was made in my guestbook today by StefANGEL.
------------------------------------------
do no it yours players 19 years for national team, you spyhole, for future don`t give you statistics for the Kanku Sait, good bye.
------------------------------------------

I can only assume that he is upset that I used two of my own 19 y/o defenders in the U21 WC match this weekend (one substituted the other), instead of Kanku Sait. Sait is his 19 y/o defender currently not in the NT squad.

StefANGEL did not bother to approach me directly about the issue, simply posting this insulting message in my guestbook.

I want to clear up this issue in public, so that no-one gets the impression that I'm favouring my own players.

Firstly, I've made my selection criteria quite clear in posts on this forum and in the NT media. For defenders, I place a premium of tacking and pace. For all players, I value stamina and form.

Sait has decent overall skills, but does not stand out in any one area. His stamina is nowhere near good enough, and both my young defenders are quicker and better tacklers (though they don't match him in secondaries). I am quite willing to prove this by posting their skills, or even temporarily putting them on the transfer market for a large sum, then withdrawing them. This would only work if StefANGEL did the same with Sait.

Secondly, the defence I used this week was the same as the last game against Portugal except that my 19 y/o's played instead of the 21 y/o Ernest Bax. Malashe and Maseko are both as quick as Bax, and have better tackling. As both are in better form that Bax, it made sense to use them instead.

Thirdly, a different manager may have chosen to use different players. My spreadsheet currently consists of 158 South African U21's, so I doubt any two managers would choose the same starting 11. However, I am the NT manager, and it is up to me to choose the team. If you can show that I have manipulated the system for my own benefit, I will quit the game today.

Finally, it is perfectly reasonable for anyone to disagree with my selection process, but no-one has the right to publicly insult me and question my integrity without first checking the facts.

In closing, it would be a pity to lose further updates regarding Sait. Four of our U21 defenders are 21 and will not be available next season. With stamina training and a couple of pops in defence and pace, Sait could be a useful member of the U21 team during the next two seasons.
