Subject: [NT] World-Cup Quali

2008-06-12 12:29:18
The first 4 days as Nationalcoach from Lietuva are over. I have got the Database from Sillu now and I know the team. There are great players, and its funny to creat a tactic for the saturday match against Danmark! Here now a first preview for the match:

Danmark : Lietuva
The game will start at 12:00, because the game is in Kopenhagen and not in Lietuva :)

We all remember the World-Cup Group game between Danmark and Lietuva. We destroyed them and won with 7:1! If the result would be the same, we could all be really happy. I think, that Danmark will play a bit more defensive then last time, because they know now Emilijus Kuèinskas and Stanislavs Palmileras...

Kuèinskas meant 2 days before the game:
"We have now a new coach, and the training has become different. But this doesn`t matter, because we are the bether team then Danmark. And sooo much won`t be different then with Sillu, I`m even the best player here..."

The star-striker will play in the attack with Stanislavs Palmileras. The two great strikers know each other already really well and so they are the best solution for the attack.

The biggest changes in my new start-set-up will be the defence. Juras Majauskas will be the central defender and the boss of the defending-line. We could also make an interview with him:

Juras Majauskas:
"I didn`t play for Lietuva more then 1 year because the coach didn`t want me. Now I got the call from Andreasson and I`m proud to play again for my country. I will give the best this saturday. My aim is a clear win and the 0 for Danmark."

I had only a few problems to set the middfield. Jovydas Kaknevièius is in horrible form and its not clear if he will play. Arminas Grybauskas got a yellow card against Switzerland last week and he can`t play. But I think that I found a really good solution...

Would be really nice if a few Lietuvan managers would watch the game and write a comment here after or during (or before) the game :)

20 minutes before the match there will also be a second (funny) match-preview to create a great atmosphere here in the forum. So have a nice day and hopefully we "see" us saturday!

Go for it Lietuva!!!

Nice preview, Andersson :o)

Jaseliunas just popped on technique, and will have brilliant pace next Thursday. What do you think about him, do you expect him in the first squad when he's 23-24?

At the age of 24 he should become double divine, if no other injuries take place.

Thanks :)
My name is Andreas (Andy), so my managername is Andreasson, not Andersson ;)

@Jaseliunas: He is a nice player for his age, thats clear! But to be honest, I don`t like defenders without B-Skills so much.. If you would give him 1 seasons technique (4-5 ups), he could become central defender with 24 or 25. But with weak technique, I can`t set him in the team...

Hi Andy,

my aim is to make him double divine. With another randompop on technique he should reach the adequate level. Other randompops should give him solid playmaking and adequate/good passing.

When he's 25 he might get other technique, but first of all I want him to become the first Lietuvan double divine defender.

I'm curious if you can really let him out of the team. I would say he's one of the best players to cover strong adversary wingers.

We will see :)
I don`t want to make you sad, but we have already a double-divine defender...

So, train him, and we will see. Against big teams he has surely chances to play in the team, thats clear!

Hi Andy,

okay you're the coach. Anyway, I'm glad he's healed again. He had a 20 days injury, and yesterday I put him in the bottom left corner of the pitch. He only touched one ball, and was trained. This gave him a randompop on technique :o)

Have you already got an idea what matches you are willing to play during the weeks there's no WC qualification match? Will there be some U21/U23-matches?

There will be a game against Belgie with the U-21. Then I would like to play a U-25 game, because in our actuel Nationalteam there are many players with 27 or more years. So I would like to see the younger players.
In the World-Cup Quali I will also once play with a U-21 team (against Jamaica for example). So we will have from everything a bit.

Now only 20 minutes to the start!
Will our team be ready? I think so, because I prepared me this week really well and the tactic should be good.
5 minutes before the match, I will present you the team. So make you ready to watch the first game from Lietuva with me as coach :)

I think we will win 3:0!

What do you think?

Lietuva: Set-up

1 Jokûbas Putrinskas GK
2 Dangiras Blaþys DEF
3 Juras Majauskas DEF
4 Anzelmas Ðutkus DEF
5 Haris Ruckevičius DEF
6 Kajus Medelis MID
7 Mikolajus Miškys MID
8 Udrys Chamentauskas MID
9 Tanislovas Varaneckas MID
10 Stanislavs Palmileras ATT
11 Emilijus Kuèinskas ATT

12 Olavas Valatka GK
13 Juknius Patinas DEF
14 Arûnas Juknys MID
15 Laimis Lapinskas MID
16 Vladislovas Korsakas ATT

We will play in a 4-4-2 with 1 winger. I want to see great combinating football with a direct passing play. The team is really compact and the middfield should win the balls and bring the winger and the strikers in the game.

So now everything is ready, and our team too. Kueinskas said, that he feels as good as never before and he wants to score 3 times :)

Danmark 1:2 Lietuva

The first 3 points are ours! Thats the good news after this strange game. In the 30 minutes, we saw a great Lietuva, playing like angels ;) Then got our most important player Myskis a red card and the good game was over for us. Coach Andreasson screamed into the pitch and had after the 60.minutes one crises after the other.

"My players had 30 really strong minutes, in which we could sore 5 goals or even more! But what happened after, was a desaster. Now I have to talk with my team, because this wasn`t good. And with such games, we won`t make true our dreams (World-Cup Final?)..."

The Lietuva newspapers wrote similar things after the game. But the most important fact is, that we have now 3 points and we won the only "hard" game in this Quali-Group. Our striker Kueinskas said this after the game:

"These 30 minutes were one of the best, we played in the last time with Lietuva. But after, our teamcaptain Myskis lost his control and got the red card. We won the game, thats important, and the good thing is: Myskis has to pay a round beer today evening. Hehe"

The team will make party today. Not the coach, because he can`t be happy with the today game...

Yes, you really had us by the balls for that half hour. It was terrible to watch from where I sit. :)

My respects to your uberstrong nationalteam. It's a wonder to me, how a relatively small sokkercountry like Lithuania can field such strong players like yours. Please enlighten me with your secret... ;)

Congrats with the Lietuvan victory. Without the red card Lietuva would have won with more goals, that's for sure.

I actually don't think so. :)

Miskys is an important defensive player, and his red card gave our offensive midfielder, Benny Abernathy, some space to move in. But Miskys' not all that important to the Lithuanian offensive, so I'm not sure it would have mattered much to you...

It would have been another game though, and maybe it could've prevented the Danish goal.

After the red card the game totaly changed. Before the red card, we had more then 4 100% chances, after quiet no one. So I think, that the game would have been different.
2008-06-15 18:11:30
I agree Andy. I'm also glad that you made a good start, which is always important as a foreign NT coach.
