I'm running for the position of head coach of the Lithuanian national team. I'd love to have the opportunity to help the team fight for qualification to the World Cup.

For the past four seasons, I've been the head coach of North Macedonia, with whom I rose from 82nd to 70th place in the global rankings. I believe I can do a good job with the Lithuanian national team.

The first match against a stronger opponent ended in a draw. Our performance wasn’t perfect, and the purpose of this match was to see how our game looks against a better rival. I need to think about how to get the maximum out of our players. As for the match itself, we lacked efficiency — there were a few good chances that should have ended with goals. Still, from the 74th to the 84th minute we were leading 2–1 — it’s a pity we conceded that goal. On the other hand, I also need to improve our defensive play. Overall, I believe this match was valuable and there is a lot we can learn from it. There is still plenty of potential left :) Now it’s time to fight for points!

Pirmosios rungtynės su stipresniu varžovu baigėsi lygiosiomis. Mūsų žaidimas nebuvo idealus, o šios rungtynės turėjo parodyti, kaip atrodome žaisdami prieš geresnį varžovą. Turiu pagalvoti, kaip išspausti iš mūsų žaidėjų maksimumą. Kalbant apie pačias rungtynes, mums pritrūko realizacijos — buvo kelios geros progos, kurios turėjo baigtis įvarčiais. Vis dėlto nuo 74 iki 84 minutės pirmavome 2:1 — gaila praleisto įvarčio. Kita vertus, turiu pagerinti ir mūsų gynybinį žaidimą. Apskritai manau, kad šios rungtynės buvo vertingos ir iš jų galima daug ko pasimokyti. Dar turime nemažai rezervo :) Dabar laikas kovoti dėl taškų!

We are behind us the first qualification match against Indonesia. The opponent was tricky, as our group rivals Việt Nam found out when they lost to them in the Asian Cup final. The match was not easy, but we were clearly the better team. It’s a pity about the goal we conceded. We could have won by a bigger margin, but it’s impossible to convert every chance into a goal. A good start, and hopefully we can keep it going. Next week we face a very tough opponent, Srbija.

Už mūsų – pirmosios atrankos rungtynės prieš Indoneziją. Varžovas neparankus, tuo įsitikino ir mūsų grupės varžovai Việt Nam, kurie pralaimėjo jiems Azijos taurės finale. Rungtynės nebuvo lengvos, tačiau mes buvome aiškiai geresnė komanda. Gaila praleisto įvarčio. Galėjome laimėti dar didesniu skirtumu, bet ne visas progas įmanoma paversti įvarčiais. Gera pradžia ir tikiuosi, kad taip bus ir toliau. Kitą savaitę mūsų laukia susitikimas su labai stipriu varžovu – Srbija.
