Subject: U21 skravleplassen
Dear Norwegians
Already 2 wins in a row! This time we gave 6 goals to the opponent. That also had something to do with the fact that our opponents also started with the U20s, just like us, and secondly, their goalkeeper is still 18 years old. Even with our U19 strikers, we had a slight advantage. That's why we don't have to overrate the high victory.
Despite the high victory, it was shown to us mercilessly that we have a defensive weakness. But that also had a lot to do with the tactical facilities. First of all, there was the normal standard 5-3-2 tactic and this was highly problematic against Ecuador. Then we used the new tactic, which I will now call the Krogsæter tactic. It consists of having a DEF like Krogsæter placed behind the tips. Against Ecuador, too, the analysts could only report positive things about this unusual tactic: Krogsæter kept the backs of the two strikers free and this time he served the strikers with balls (unlike in the last game: then Krogsæter won many balls already in the opponent's half and triggered a quick attack forward).
Without overestimating the two victories in a row, we are slowly moving to an area where we can say: Slowly, the U21 coach has understood which tactics suit the current player material. The weaknesses and strengths are known and the goal is to gain more experience with these tactics and to fine-tune them where adjustments can still be made through observation.

Dear Norwegians
I haven't been in touch at all. I'm doing well, I'm a bit busier in my private life than usual and after Corona there's not so much "home office" (home @ work).
But I haven't let up on trying out new tactics for the U21s. We even had the honour of playing against Germany. But this game was led by tsolias who is well known internationally and is considered an absolute U21 expert. He prepared two interesting tactics for us and that is an added value for Norway. In return, I led Germany. The game is linked here: Norge U21 - Deutschland U21 1:2
Meanwhile, we are playing in Copa America. We qualified for the knockout phase by the skin of our teeth. We had a very unfortunate defeat against Canada. The problem is the same: Our strikers are a year too young and that's why it's very difficult for us to score goals, but we've found a good basis and at some point luck will be on our side.

Dear Norwegians!
I am happy to stand for election! I am highly motivated! Yes, my contributions to the forum have become less frequent, but I always answer many mails in the background. If you would like me to comment here more often, please let me know.
About the team:
Another defeat today. On the one hand, because I didn't prepare any special tactics for the opponent, on the other hand, we had a really bad day.
But we also didn't play with the best options in the forwards. Our best strikers didn't play because they are currently being trained in technique and therefore with MID order. I much prefer to let younger strikers play who also benefit from the training bonus. That's why the friendlies were more about shaping the team of tomorrow. In the qualifiers, however, we will play with the best possible line-up. That's quite clear!
So, don't forget to celebrate democracy and go vote!

Dear Norwegians,
I thank you for re-electing me and I am very happy to continue here.
There were two big news.
1) Qualification for the World Championship
WC-Group C
1 165 866 $ Polska U21
761 233 $ Norge U21
609 537 $ Australia U21
568 084 $ Scotland U21
289 750 $ Prathet Thai U21
276 519 $ U.A.E. U21
We are in an interesting group. The team from pot 1 is of course Poland. Scotland was selected as the team pot 2. After that we are from pot 3. Australia from pot 4. Surprisingly, according to statistics, we are favorites for 2nd place and I think we have a good chance to live up to our favorite role this time.
But we know that we can't win anything with statistics. We have players with high value in our first team because they were trained too one-sidedly in some cases. For example, I prefer a player with 14 pace and 14 defender than a player with 18 pace and 10 defender.
At least our efforts last season are reflected in ratings. We have a record-breaking rating total in today's game (more on that below). We targeted our U20s and U19s last season, who are now the U21s and U20s respectively.
2) Australia U21 - Norge U21 0:1
Very early we had to start the game. We played against Australia two seasons ago. At that time it was a friendly match and Australia refused to play with the U20 like we did. This time we played with the U21. I prefer a win in an official match than in a friendly.
The average score was 54.7 and we can do even better! We will compare this number again with the one in the last official game. The victory against Australia was absolutely well deserved. We had a clear chance plus and we also missed a penalty. After all, Australia has an above-average goalie and that made life difficult for us, because our forward line is our biggest weakness. Conveniently, we played with our U20 striker.
In connection with the statistics: Yes, numbers are not everything. Our challenge will be to actually convert our chances into goals. In the game against Australia, we showed that we can defend and create chances. The only thing that was still lacking was the conversion of chances.
Next week we'll play Poland, who already have an average score of 60. Damage limitation is the order of the day.

Dear Norwegians,
Group C
Norge U21 - Polska U21
The game against Poland was a highlight for our team. Poland is traditionally always the favourite. I already announced last week that the aim is to do damage limitation. This mission was successfully accomplished. But from my point of view, it's no use if we don't do anything for a possible victory either.
In fact, we had a chance to win in this game. Ulland managed time and again to break through the Polish defence and thus provide the strikers with balls. And that was exactly the problem yesterday. Our strikers are a season too young to score the goals, but it was very nice to see that we also created chances.
Poland, on the other hand, also created chances, with between 2-3 of 14 scoring chances being top-class. We had a bit of luck there, too. In my opinion, the result is fair, because Poland was not convincing and we were able to create "pinpricks".
The basis for this result was above all our 5-DEF-line, which was incredibly organised and, when necessary, was able to set an offside trap. In addition, the choice of stadium played a role that should not be underestimated: the stadium was smaller than a usual U21 stadium.
With the performances against Australia and Poland, we can happily continue in the qualifiers. The chances for qualification are still there. Next week, however, we will pause the qualifiers and test our U20s in a friendly for the first time.

Dear Norwegians,
Norge U21 - Việt Nam U21 4:0
We played a friendly match today at U20 level. The result is quite promising, especially since Vietnam is better qualified than us in the rankings. I think we are in good form now and we are making progress at all levels and I would like to remind you that it doesn't just come, you have to work for it.
I would now like to get rid of details about the four main positions of the Sokkers game:
GK: We have a very thin line-up in the U20s. Only Oskar Simensen seems to meet our requirements. The search for an 18-year-old goalkeeper is still on. If you find any indication that such a player is available, please report to me immediately. I will try to place this player to Jeppe or Lorre.
DEF: I was surprised that we played to nil against Vietnam even though we have a very thin selection and we will find it difficult to respond to injuries, suspensions as well as deep forms. We are especially short of defenders who are 19 years old. Remember, the general absolute minimum requirement for the U21s is Pace 10 and DEF 10.
MID: I'm happy with that. It seems that the U20 has 5 options. I have more concerns in the U19 area. Here would also be a task for you: Make sure that U19 players are trained as MID. I would be very happy to hear from you.
ATT: The U20s fully meet our requirements. Also, as with the DEFS and MIDS, we have to be careful to get U19 strikers. We already have a great U19 striker (Rognerud) but having only him would be a very thin selection!
Conclusion: Remember that U19 players are wanted at the moment. If you coach one, please get in touch with me. One exception is the goalkeepers, where we are looking for an 18-year-old.
-> Then I can also start feeding our DB with 19-year-olds (check link Date Base below)

Dear Norwegians,
Norge U21 - Prathet Thai U21 1:1
It was a very disappointing result for me. Anyone who saw the game expected Norge to win. Thailand played about as I expected and a suitable tactic was set up.
We went into the game with the handicap of Ulland's injury. His replacement played well, but didn't have the necessary strength for 60 minutes. Up front, we created chances like crazy and allowed almost nothing at the back. In the end, we had 14:2 chances to score and still the final result is 1:1.
That can happen in Sokker from time to time. It's all the more annoying that we didn't take our chances to consolidate 2nd place. That means we have to work hard for this place.

Dear Norwegians,
U.A.E. U21 - Norge U21
Last Friday we played away against U.A.E. Our expectation was clearly defined: win and score as many goals as possible. This expectation was only partially fulfilled, but we achieved the most important goal by getting 3 points. We struggled to score goals, as we did against Thailand.
There were enough chances to score the goals, but our strikers did not manage to convert this superiority into goals, because our opponent chose a very defensive tactic. Finally, we had to score the 2:1 with a penalty!
Once again, we received another unfortunate goal, but this time the goal we conceded remained without consequences. We had to compensate for the absence of Ulland and Ege, who are undoubtedly among the best U21 players. Next week it's on to Scotland. That is probably the most important game and at least we can probably count on the services of Ulland again, while Ege will continue to be out injured.

Key game won! You`re well ahead in the fight for the second place and a place in the world cup ;-)
Dear Norwegians,
Norge U21 - Scotland U21 1:0
Last Friday we played Scotland in a important game. As Lorre rightly pointed out (thanks for the message), this victory was eminently important to keep our chances of participating in the World Cup alive.
I got the impression that we were well organised at the back. The fact that Scotland only had one goal-scoring chance is an indication of that. We, on the other hand, produced 12 scoring chances and my concern was whether we would be able to convert such a chance into a goal. As you know, we need a lot of chances to score in order to score something useful.
I noted three things in the game: First, there was a mistake on my part, but it had little impact on the game. One midfielder was playing in defence and the defender in midfield (this happened because I entered an instruction incorrectly). Then I realised that the presence of Ulland does our offensive a lot of good. He is our man up front. Finally, we have to swallow a bitter pill that our striker Lilleby got injured. But he should be fit for the return match.
In the meantime, we will play an U20 match (next Friday) and after that we will play Scotland again. I'm curious to see if we can grab the big chance!

@soe: Again, i put your information under general informations (How to update your player skills? -> below this text, thank you!
After the result of this match, the Norwegian players celebrated in each other's arms. No wonder, as the Scotland U21 coach noted, it was a so-called 6-point game. Now Norway is 7 points ahead of 3rd place. World Cup qualification seems to be within reach. There are 4 games left, but the games against the supposed underdogs have to be won and that is not as easy as the current round has shown:
Australia lost against UAE and at the same time Thailand comes to a point win against Poland. It is therefore absolutely credible when the Norwegian U21 coach claims that there is still a lot of work to do. (Link to Group C WC-Qualification)
Keep coaching your players, give me updates and also think about the future: open a youth school, draw and train youth players. The U19s and U20s are just as important for the U21s.
But now we enjoy the victory and prepare the next week for the next game, which we unfortunately have to play without Sætra. Speaking of which, little was said about the game: our tried and tested tactics worked once again and hardly allowed Scotland to create any scoring chances, but Scotland defended better and we are very happy that we were able to score again from 9 scoring chances.
