Subject: Holidays in Bruxelles

Hi!! I'm going to travel to Bruxelles this August, from 16th to 20th and i would like to have your advice, of course, if anybody go to Madrid, i could help too :)

My first idea is to visit Bruxelles for 2 days, another day in Bruges, and another day in Gante.

We'll be in a hotel located in Chausee de Charleroi

So, my questions are...

1- What is the best option for public transport? I've read there are tickets for 3 days for unlimited number of trips...

2- What could we visit first day and second day taking into account our location?

For example: from station Louise to XXX station, then visit Grand Place...later go to station XXX and visit XXX...

3- Best places for eating? (not so expensive please :P )

4- Party? :)

I would be very grateful if you could help me, and if you need anything from Madrid...please ask :P

THANKS!

1. best option for public transport imo = metro.

2. Time enough to see what you want to see :)

3.
http://www.ellisgourmetburger.com/en/menu/food ==> Place Sainte Catherine 4 – 1000 Brussels if you like non-fast food burgers.

Viva 'm Boma ==> Vlaamsesteenweg 17: traditional food + organ meats

http://www.eltxoko.be/ ==> tapas

just don't go to eat in the Rue des bouchers = tourist rip off.

4.
Celtica: 55, Rue du Marché aux Poulets ==> if you want easy girls, cheap beer during happy hour

some nice bars are situated at Sint goriksplein,

Clubs: http://www.fuse.be/ if you like dance/house or harder :p

1: metro/bus/tram (all same company). They do indeed have tickets for several days. Dont buy single trips, its bloody expensive.

2: All mentionned cities are pretty small. Guess you can visit most stuff you want. Besides the Atomium in Brussels, all other stuff is within a couple of miles distance. Same for Bruges (and I guess Ghent too).

3: Depends on what you prefer to eat :p Brussels has a nice asian part for food. In Bruges I know several restaurants (from cheap till slightly expensive), depending on what you prefer (athmosphere, kind of food, ...). Feel free to sk mail me somehwere at start of August. Just dont keep the habit of having late lunch as in Spain, most close their kitchen from 9.30-10pm on (except night restaurants obviously).

4: Bruges has some nice bars, but very few party places. Ghent is a better option then. Brussels has both disco, bars, ...

Thanks for all! :P

And another question, what is the best choice for travelling from Bruxelles to Bruges? How much does it costs? that because i have been searching for trains and i have seen the prices are 25 euros around, but i felt that page wasn't updated, what page could i use to see the trains and their schedule?

Sorry if i ask so much :P i like to know the details when i travel haha :)

First of all: Take tram 1 at the Sint Pieters Station (Ghent) to the center.
If you are here only one day, you should visit the city center.
The korenmarkt, the Vrijdagsmarkt (in english: friday-market) and the graslei.
The 'Gravensteen' is like one of the oldest castles of belgium: http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravensteen_%28Gent%29
You'll have a nice view over Ghent!

To eat I really like

- Le fin du monde, near the friday-market, open from 18:00.
http://www.findumonde.be/

- de gekroonde hoofden (spear ribs) also open from 18:00
http://www.degekroondehoofden.be/

But on the Korenmarkt there are a lot of place to eat (at noon and in the evening).

To go for a beer I suggest going to
-Hot Club de Gand: http://www.hotclubdegand.be/ (ask for a big bottle of La Chouffe)
- De Trollenkelder: http://www.detrollekelder.be/ (ask for the beer of the week)

You will see there are a lot of bars in the city center, so you will find something ;-)
