Because of a power cut in a large data centre in northern Brussels, ADSL and SDSL customers in the regions of Brussels, Flemish and Walloon Brabant, Liège and the Campine lost internet connectivity.
EDPnet is working on a solution in the shortest possible terms, which we are expecting in the course of tonight.
Update 22:30: the situation is gradually improving. We have been told that by midnight, all should be back to normal.
Update 23:00: systems are steadily catching up. Should you still be unable to go online, you may want to restart your modem or router.
We are sincerely sorry for all inconveniences.
>> heeft er zeker 6 uur uitgelegen, de 4de keer in amper 2 weken tijd.
morgen eens mailen en schadevergoeding vragen, dat ze tenminste een commerciële geste kunnen doen, maar denk hun antwoord al te weten.

Analysis finds Safari, Opera update methods ineffective
According to research made by Thomas Duebendorfer of Google Switzerland, and Stefan Frei of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zürich, silent updates are the most effective ways of ensuring that browsers are patched to the latest version available and thus deliver a more secure web surfing experience. Looking at the update methods of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera, Duebendorfer and Frei have concluded that only the first two are truly capable of delivering up-to-date browsing, and do that without much user hassle. Both Chrome and Firefox check for new updates regularly and can be updated automatically, with the move to a new version requiring a restart (of the browser of course).
Safari and Opera on the other hand did significantly worse and have seen only 54% and 24% of users respectively moving to the latest version available, three weeks after it has been released. To compare, 97% of Chrome and 85% of Firefox users were up to date after the 21 days. Opera's low result can be blamed on the fact that the current 9.6 versions can't be updated "on the fly," with the user being required to get the full package and run it as it if was a fresh install. This is to be 'corrected' with Opera 10 (currently in alpha testing) which will have an automatic update feature.
"All in all, the poor update effectiveness of Apple Safari and Opera gives attackers plenty of time to use known exploits to attack users of outdated browsers," said the analysis' authors. "Our global measurements have empirically proven that Web browser Google Chrome's silent auto update mechanism is the most effective compared to those of Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Opera."
