ENGLAND/ ARSENAL, Duel with Liverpool for Albiol
According to The Sun, Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on Valencia 23 year old Raul Albiol. The player's contract with the Spanish club, who will espire in 2011, has a 60 million pounds termination clause, but, considering the club's financial situation, 15 millions could be enough to sign the player. Valencia Sports Director Fernando Gomez has admitted the possibility of selling the player but has denied any official negotiation.

Chelsea executive Bruce Buck has declared: "I think that many players will leave the club at the end of the season and other will arrive. I don't know if they will be three, four or five, but certainly a group of players will leave. We want to use the money obtained by the players sold to sign new ones. And of course, if we will have the chance, we will sign a great champion". One of the player intended to leave could be Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic, tracked by Fiorentina

Eerst moesten West Ham en Middlesbrough nog een replay van hun 1/8ste finale spelen, daarna moet de winnaar dus naar Liverpool voor de aartsmoeilijke opdracht bij het Everton van Marouane Fellaini. Deze wedstrijd is in het kader van ‘Open Stadion’ gratis toegankelijk voor alle Telenet Digital TV-abonnees. Commentaar: Wim Heidbüchel.

Het bericht dat David Beckham het seizoen bij AC Milan zal afmaken, sijpelde deze week al door. De deal tussen de rossoneri en Los Angeles Galaxy is nu helemaal rond, zo meldt het medium CNN. De 33-jarige Beckham speelt sinds januari op huurbasis voor Milan.
Door de overeenkomst zal Beckham niet komende maandag terugkeren naar Los Angeles, hetgeen aanvankelijk wel de bedoeling was. De Engelsman zal nu in mei naar de States afreizen om daar het MLS-seizoen af te maken met LA Galaxy om vervolgens definitief terug te keren bij Milan.
Beckham, 108-voudig international van Engeland, maakte sinds zijn entree in de Serie A een goede indruk bij Milan. De rossoneri deden er de afgelopen weken dan ook alles aan om Becks te behouden. Over de transfersom en de duur van het contract bij Milan zijn geen mededelingen gedaan. Wel zou Beckham akkoord zijn gegaan met een salarisverlaging.
