JUVENTUS, Update on the main transfer targets
- Fabio Cannavaro : The Italian international and Real Madrid centre-back successfully completed routine medical exams for Juventus in Italy two days ago and has signed for his former club until June 2011 on a free transfer. Cannavaro has also signed to become a Juventus club official beginning from June 2011. The official announcement will be made at the end of this season.
- Antonio Cassano : The negotiations between Juventus and Sampdoria officials are progressing. Juventus are ready to pay 10 million Euros to sign the talented forward. Sampdoria officials want 20 millions, but could agree to a reduction if Juventus will loan them midfielder Sergio Almiron (currently on loan at Fiorentina) and forward Sebastian Giovinco. Cassano is expected to join Juventus at the end of the season or in July 2010 at the latest.
- Franck Ribery : Juventus are keen on the speedy Bayern Munich's French winger and he is interested to compete in Serie A, but he will either stay in Germany for one last season (if Bayern will strengthen their squad) or move to Barcelona (who are planning to bid 30 million Euros for him).
- Diego : The Werder Bremen Brazilan star and his agents are in advanced talks with Juventus. Until last week, an agreement was close to being reached on the basis of 20 million Euros, but Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Diego recently. At present, Diego's price has increased to 30 millions and Juventus are hesitating. In the meantime, Werder Bremen officials have put the all negotiations on hold as they want to wait and see what Bayern and Juventus will propose next. Werder Bremen hope to have Diego's price increase even more. For now, Bayern are favourites to sign the Brazilian, although Diego prefers joining Juventus.
- Xabi Alonso : Juventus officials have renewed their interest in Liverpool's Spanish midfielder. They almost signed him last summer and want to try again. Alonso is interested in joining Juventus. But, Liverpool could keep him (unless they sign Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry) or he could move to Real Madrid if Florentino Perez is elected as the club's chairman on June 14. It will not be easy for Juventus to sign Alonso.
- David Silva : The Valencia left winger would like to stay put, but Valencia officials are negotiating with Juventus. However, Real Madrid and Liverpool could soon offer more money to sign Silva.
- Piotr Trochowski : The German attacking midfielder is a realistic target. He could leave SV Hamburg for a reasonable price.
- Marek Hamsik : Napoli's Slovak midfielder is keen on moving to a bigger club, but Juventus might face competition from Inter Milan, who can make more lucrative offers.

'Barcelona volgt Pocognoli'
De Spaanse krant Sport beweert dat AZ-linksback Sebastien Pocognoli in de belangstelling staat van FC Barcelona.
In Catalonië ziet men Pocognoli als de vervanger voor de Braziliaan Sylvinho. De ervaren Sylvinho heeft bij Barcelona een aflopend contract en hoeft niet te rekenen op een nieuwe verbintenis.
Sport schrijft verder dat naast Pocognoli meerdere spelers uit de Eredivisie zouden worden gevolgd door Barcelona. Het zou gaan om Niklas Moisander, Urby Emanuelson en Edson Braafheid.

Interviewed by Mercato365.com, Genoa 22 year old Belgian right-back Anthony Vanden Borre said: "I need to play regularly. I know that some clubs are interested in me, but this is not the right time to think about it. Some months ago, I had a contact with Olympique Marseille, but they signed another player at the end. Anyway, they are a fascinating club. The atmosphere at the Vélodrome stadium is fantastic, it would be interesting to play there".
