Werder Bremen heeft de Duitse beker veroverd in de finale tegen Leverkusen. Özil tekende op het uur de enige treffer aan. Het is de zesde keer dat Bremen de beker wint.
Diego gaf zijn laatste match voor Bremen kleur door na 58 minuten Özil weg te sturen die vanuit een scherpe hoek de bal voorbij doelman Friedrich trapte.
Door de bekerzege heeft Bremen zijn seizoen gered, want in de competitie was het pas tiende geëindigd. In 2004 had Werder zijn laatste grote prijs gewonnen. Toen werd het kampioen en bekerwinnaar.

Carlo Ancelotti confirmed as Chelsea manager
Carlo Ancelotti has been confirmed as the successor to Guus Hiddink at Chelsea, agreeing a three year contract that begins on July 1.
The Italian insisted that his aim was to bring Champions League success to Stamford Bridge after winning the trophy four times, twice as a player and twice as a manager.
Ancelotti, 50 later this month, was formerly with Reggiana, Parma, Juventus and AC Milan and although he insisted his English needed improving, his interview on Chelsea TV was delivered with impressive coherence.

Het contract van Ramos wordt niet meer verlengd door kersvers voorzitter Florentino Perez. Pellegrini krijgt de voorkeur van de nieuwe preses.

Upon their brand new coach Carlo Ancelotti's suggestion, Chelsea officials could sign AC Milan's Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf. The 33 year old is disappointed with some AC Milan fans who contested him this season and he has a strong bond with Ancelotti. Therefore, the Dutchman is tempted to join his former coach to Chelsea.
