Liverpool Boss Rafael Benitez Has Money To Sign ‘One Or Two’ Players
The Spaniard has returned rumours that he will have a diminished transfer budget...
9 Jun 2009 14:28:27

The financial losses accrued by Liverpool's parent company Kop Holdings Ltd. were speculated to have fractioned the club's transfer budget, however, manager Rafael Benitez has intimated today that he still has the funds to acquire "one or two" players.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the Champions League winning Spaniard said, “We knew it could be difficult because there is a crisis all around the world.

“Clearly we don’t have too much to spend but I think we have enough money to add the one or two players that we need. I’m very happy with the squad we’ve got. This season has been really good and we’ve competed on all fronts.

“If we can sign one or two players then I’m really positive that we can improve.”

The Anfield outfit had been linked with Napoli forward Ezequiel Lavezzi as a potential partner for prolific striker Fernando Torres, but Benitez has since poured cold water on this claim.

Liverpool are alleged to have interest in Argentine international Carlos Tevez, England right-back Glen Johnson and in-demand Valencia attacker David Silva.

Javier Mascherano Would Leave Liverpool For Barcelona
The midfield hardman’s agent has confessed that his client would have no problems swapping Anfield for Camp Nou…

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has become one of Barcelona’s prime transfer targets this summer and it appears that the Blaugrana could get their man should they step up their pursuit.
The Argentine captain’s agent, Walter Tamer, has revealed that his client would not hesitate in accepting an offer to join the Catalans should one be officially made.

“If a club like Barcelona want to bring you into their ranks after having completed such a brilliant season and having won everything, obviously as a player, you are going to say, ‘Yes, I want to play there,’” he told RAC-1 programme ‘Tu Diras’....

> wat liggen onze LFC. spelers populair op de TL markt, no wonder. zou het enkel jammer vinden om spelers als Javier & Xabi te verliezen, want door wie zou Rafa deze vervangen?

According to Spanish newspaper El Ideal Gallego, Barcelona will sign Brazilian left-back Filipe (full name : Luis Filipe Kasmirski) from Deportivo La Coruna for 10 million Euros.

According to Spanish media sources, Barcelona are ready to include their under-utilized Belarus attacking midfielder Alexander Hleb in the negotiations for Inter Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic. At present, the negotiations between Inter and Barcelona for the Swede are deadlocked.

Upon their midfielder Claude Makelele's suggestion, Paris Saint-Germain officials will try to sign two Spanish players from Real Madrid : right-back Michel Salgado and midfielder Guti. Both players know Makelele well as they played together at Real a few years ago.

Inter Milan and Brazil NT right-back Maicon has changed his mind and, from Brazil's trainingcamp in South Africa, has stated last night : "I see Kaka and he is happy to have joined Real Madrid. He has moved from a top club to another top club. I wish to do the same and I feel better. I am not happy with Inter and I want to leave because my club only think about Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Inter officials ignore me as if I am an average player. They have even renewed my contract, even though I deserve one !". ...... As recently reported, Real Madrid are tracking Maicon.

According to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Villarreal are interested in Blackburn Rovers and Paraguay striker Roque Santa Cruz (27), but the Spaniards want to spend less than 22 million euros (which is Blackburn's asking price).

Spanish newspaper Marca claims that Real Madrid chairman Florentino Perez will soon bid 96 million Euros for Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.
