Manchester City Face Competition From Milan For Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o – Report
It was previously rumoured that the Cameroon international striker was close to completing a move to Eastlands...
According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mail, Serie A giants Milan are looking to hijack Manchester City's move for Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o.
On Thursday, it was reported that the Citizens were close to tying up a deal worth €35.2 million (£30m) for the 28-year-old, while on Friday it was claimed that a €29.3m (£25m) transfer was in the pipeline. ...
However, the Citizens' mega-offer has apparently convinced La Blaugrana to cash-in now. Indeed, their offer to pay around €226,000-a-week in wages after tax (£192,000) is thought to have tempted Eto'o.
While Milan may not be able to equal City's bid, it is believed they are hoping to persuade the 5ft 11in forward to move to the San Siro regardless, using their glittering history as a draw.
Inter are also said to be keeping tabs on Eto'o, but they have apparently failed to launch an official enquiry so far.

Since the debate concerning whether or not Vuvuzelas should be banned began, an interesting development has occured inside the stadium.
For the opening match of the Confederations Cup between South Africa and Iraq, Vuvuzela’s were available everywhere, with vendors selling team-themed Vuvuzelas at every corner of the match venues and official fan stores even stocking the noisy instruments.
At the recent Italy - Egypt game, however, Goal.com could not find any places within the stadium where one could attain the trumpets and at today’s South Africa – Spain game, it is a similar story.
After being sent from stall to stall in an attempt to find a Vuvuzela to buy, this Goal.com reporter finally gave up on his search, settling on the realisation that FIFA may have subtly ‘banned’ the sale of these items in the stadiums, hoping that the noise level would decrease somewhat.

Liverpool Owner George Gillett Sells NHL Side Montreal Canadiens
Liverpool could have their financial burden eased somewhat after it emerged that their owner has agreed a deal for the NHL club...
Liverpool co-owner George Gillett has agreed to sell NHL side Montreal Canadiens in a deal believed to be worth around £330 million.
Reuters Canada reports that Gillett will sell the Canadiens to the Molson family in a deal that could have ramifications for the Reds.
"Our family has been very proud to be associated with the Montreal Canadiens over the past eight years,” Reuters quotes Gillett as saying in a statement. ...
Manager Rafael Benitez has insisted he has money to spend this summer and has been linked with moves for Glen Johnson and David Silva.
However, it has also been claimed that the Spaniard must sell before he can buy, meaning that players such as Andrea Dossena, Alvaro Arbeloa, Xabi Alonso, Javier Mascherano and Albert Riera have all been linked with Anfield exits.
The Merseysiders are not believed to have the funds to compete with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid in the transfer market, although whether that may change in the light of today’s news remains to be seen.

The South African media is claiming that an alleged robbery from the hotel rooms of some Egypt players on Thursday evening was nothing to do with burglars but with prostitutes.
On Friday, the Pharaohs’ team manager Inas Mazhar reported that $2,400 US had been stolen from the rooms of some players on the night the African champions defeated Italy 1-0 in the 2009 Confederations Cup.
City Press said on Sunday morning that police sources confirmed that there were no signs of forced entry and added that CCTV footage showed scantily-clad women moving around a number of hotel rooms during what seemed to be a party.
“The players must explain why their rooms were not broken into and why their room safes were not tempered with but they still lost money,“ an unnamed police source told City press.
Sunday World, another Johannesburg publication, quoted a police officer as saying, “we have confirmed that some of the players brought prostitutes whom they picked up on Oxford Road to their hotel rooms and we have strong suspicions that they were cleaned by ladies of the night.”
Security guards who guard the hotel told the same newspaper that: “when they (the players) were robbed, they pointed their dirty fingers at hotel staff – that’s nonsense.”
The Egyptian team spokesperson was unavailable for comment.

Carlos Tevez 'agreed Manchester City deal two weeks ago'
Carlos Tevez agreed to leave Manchester United for neighbouring club City two weeks ago according to reports.
The Mirror claims the Argentina forward will complete his £25.5 million move in the coming days, but had decided to leave Old Trafford over two weeks ago based on his belief that Sir Alex Ferguson did not rate him enough to make him a first choice player.
News that Tevez would not return for United's pre-season training broke over the weekend after the club announced he had rejected the offer of a five-year contract. City meanwhile are thought to have tabled a deal worth over £100,000-a-week over five years.

Manchester United’s Federico Macheda a target for Jose Mourinho’s Inter
Sir Alex Ferguson’s good natured relationship with Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho will be tested this summer when the former Chelsea manager makes attempts to return Manchester United youngster Federico Macheda to Italy.
With Carlos Tevez now leaving the club along with Cristiano Ronaldo, Ferguson is keen to add to his attacking options rather than see them further depleted
