Stuttgart give up on Huntelaar chase, Spurs in?

Stuttgart have called off their bid to sign Klaas Jan Huntelaar after refusing to wait for the Real Madrid striker to resolve a contract dispute with the Spanish club.

Stuttgart are thought to have agreed a fee for the Holland international, who only joined Madrid from Ajax in January for a fee which could have risen to €27m.

But the move has hit the rocks on financial grounds.

Stuttgart sport manager Horst Heldt said in a statement on the club's official website: "We wanted to acquire Klaas Jan Huntelaar because his playing style fits very well with our team. But we are not about to keep ourselves hanging on and waiting.''

The statement also revealed the club decided to pull out when an agreed-upon deadline came and went without a final answer as the player could not agree a package with Madrid for his contract to be terminated.

Huntelaar is also a reported target for Arsenal and Tottenham with Spurs boss Harry Redknapp admitting: "The lad is a very good goalscorer and I'm still interested in him. I know of Stuttgart's involvement but I'm hoping we will still be able to do something.

"There's a lot of talk about who I may or may not be after but Huntelaar is the one I like.''

One of the player's Italian agents Gabriele Savino spoke to Radio MilanInter about these rumours.

"This is a player who has many teams interested in him," he said, "he's being followed by a few big Spanish and English teams, and he's been offered to all the main Serie A teams: Milan, Inter, Juventus, Fiorentina, Napoli, Lazio, Roma and Genoa.

"Genoa showed concrete interest, even offering AZ €10 million, but the Dutch club rejected the offer as being too small, considering they are participating in the Champions League and don't need to sell players.

Granero zou een vrij goedkope koop kunnen worden voor Real, las iets van een 2.5M
Alonso willen ze absoluut omdat hij een unieke speler is, dat je nergens ter wereld kan vinden. Zijn spelinzicht en passvermogen is buitenaards en hij kan aardig goed op doel trappen ook.

We zien wel wat er zal gebeuren, tot op heden bijven het roddels + een kat en muis spel.

Despite the arrival of midfielder Esteban Granero (22), Real Madrid are still tracking Xabi Alonso (28). According to Daily Mail, the Spanish midfielder has reiterated his desire to join the Merengues.
