voor zover ik kon zien was het de bedoeling om hem de doorsteek op Lippens te laten geven (die is superdivine pace en tech en dus moeilijk af te stoppen als ie door is, zie eerste goal) of anders breed op Malbranque te leggen en het spel zo te verleggen.

Het lag volgens mij vooral aan de positionering van de defs.. Want wanneer je geen winger gebruikt kan je net 1 man meer op het middenveld posteren, zij het dan idd niet als def-mid.

well...

defensively it was too poor, liked the way the attacks went trough the middle tough, cause i'm sick of seing games were it all depends on the winger ;)

so, in short: it was different, it was ok, but far from good enough ;)

I'm a big fan of playing through the middle, just check some of my league games :P but there were problems with 2nd central mid....there was no one available with proper skills. But still, they did well especially Bourdon...

Defensive wasn't that good I must agree...but most of the situations for Turkiye was thanks to:
a)defender making a through pass which is one of the games stupid mistakes
b)wingers tackling our side defs, and thus having empty wing to run and pass.

Still it was just a experimental tactic :) Turkiye made a good tactic as well with this wide striker and 2 high wingers moving as strikers sometimes...

I agree , but that their wingers would tackle our side defs is plain normal. Belgium just doesn't have players to play that way, not against a team like Turkey anyway. ;)

Well I don't know the skills so...:) I think that the side defs were a bit too high...that's why they acted like mids sometimes :p

i thought that was what you meant for them to do, act as mids ;)

no :) the idea was to stop wingers very fast....so if they fail, centre def can reach them before they make a cross. :) also I hoped for them to make good passes...if defs are high, then they tend to make short passes, isntead of kicking the ball to throw in/far far away :P

well, i guess you've failed then! :p

but centre defs reaching the wingers before they make the cross? Doesn't seem a good idea to me, they have enough pm at these levels.

well it's better to attack the winger with centre def[when wing def failed] than to leave him alone and let him make an easy cross in :)
