Subject: Tallinn on new years eve
- 1
Hi guys,
some friends and I are planning new years eve to do sth. together (again) this time we decided to visit the baltic countries. So I wonder how Tallinn is as an experience for 4 days during new years eve?
Is it in any way dangerous ( we are around 10 guys and girls from Germany, Spain, France and Russia)? We have been to Barcelona, Paris, Munich and Moscow in the years before and so far no big troubles (pick pockets in Barcelona were the worst experience)
So any advice or tip?
Greetings

If you are stupid and careless enough, you will be robbed everywhere in the world. Otherways - Tallinn is great and safe city!
New Years Eve is usually a lot of people in the center and old town area. They drink, throw bottles (chapmaine as well) around and yell, kiss, hug at the midnight. There is plenty of parties with tickets in the clubs. And it will not be boring, if you have nice company with you!
What style of people you are? Nightclubs or alternative clubs?
And, I think you must book your hotels very early, cause Tallinn is a huge hit for people from Russia, specially for celebrating NYE. There is special programs in hotels in Russian for them:)
And don't forget to bring your warmest clothes!!! :P

And pray for snow, much nicer here then :D Not too much though.
We are more the alternative club, bar type of people. And usually one or two are sober enough to guide us home.
So the old town is where you have to be?
Yeah one thing I learned when I was celebrating new years eve in moscow is that russians drink champagne and like to throw the bottles around ;-) .
At least two of us are fluent in Russian, so that should be no problem.

Yes, I don't want to be racist or anything, but usually the slavic side of the Estonian nation is more aggressive, yes. But, then again - alcohol makes us everybody idiots :)
I must admit, that the center part of the Tallinn is mostly old town or very close to the old town. And - Tallinn (for having party) is quite little but compact place. So, yes, the old town is definitely the spot to have fun. You could find different bars or clubs around every corner of the old town.
A bit googlemap help and you can check places.
Feel free to ask about the place here first. We can explain if it worth of it or not.
Lets keep the channel open!
