Come to Karlovac, we have 4 rivers and a lot of beaches. :)
Hello effe!
Yes, these are the best towns to see in middle Dalmatia except for Crikvenica. Nothing special there really. My personal favorite is Zadar. Great position and climate, interesting history and cultural landmarks and the beautiful city beach Borik. I would recommend also that you go see national parks Plitvice and Krka which are also in the area and that you visit at least one of the islands (e.g. Murter cause it has a bridge so it's very accessible) because of the nature and that the sea is particularly clean there.
Dubrovnik is the most interesting city on the coast but don't go there in August cause it's packed and the beaches are not a highlight there. May or late June is much better.

Visit Skradin (NP Krka) and Vodice /it's on relation Zadar-Šibenik
Hello. I have bought tickets for a plane to Split. My wife amd I will speed a week in Hrvatska between 22.08 and 29.08.
I am wondering where to go and sleep. I am going to stay for a day or two in Split to admire architecture and the rest of time we would like to spend in quiet place enjoying the sea, sunbathing, your local food.
The friend of mine recommended me Hvar island. He was in Stari Grad (but with his car). I will not have that one but maybe it would be nice idea to rent one. What place would you recommend for me and my wife to go?
Thanks a lot. Regards :-)

screw hvar. screw brač.
visit island lastovo or island vis. lastovo is more wild but sea is unrealistic blue and clear.
visit city of dubrovnik - couple of hours is enough but it's worth it.
visit national parks if you'll have time and money: mljet, krka, plitvice.

the truth is, you can't really go anywhere wrong on croatia coast (in a good way).. National Park Brijuni (and every other), Southern Istria, Rovinj, Poreč, Novigrad, Split, Dubrovnik, Zadar, Opatija, anywhere :)
thanks. But I thinks that Dubrovnik is too far. I'll visit it when next time find tickets directly to Dubrovnik.
This time I will go to Split and explore that city and rest of time I want to spend on the beaches, in the sea.

you said quiet place. every year there is less and less peaceful places on the coast.
islands are generally less populated with tourists
