Given that it's my opinion that it's impossible to make a tactic without know the players you have,

I think Chile's coach will play with a 4-2-4( with 2 wings) or 4-2-1-1-2(with a wing and offensive midfielder).

Assuming that it'll be true, i'll play with a 5-2-1-2 (with wing or off-mid).
If he'll play with 4-2-4 i would arrange a wing, against 4-2-1-1-2 an off-mid.
This is because, seeing his match, with the first method we can contrast well his mid and try to build something in attack. With the second tactics I would like defend better our attacking third where he arrange a mid-def to close him all the possible way for penetrative passes and passes for wing without sacrificing my offensive combination.

I don't like too much lose, but if i must i would that my team go out from the field with higth head, trying to build some offensive combination. Losing for losing...

I can continue with our team arrangement, talking about the 2 mid.
If he play with off-mid, 2 our mid have to contrast him alternately, depending where is the ball(i'll add a grafich for clarity). Otherone free will have to help external defender with a double teaming or inserting in his place when he leaves it to fight the opponent wing or strikers or contrast the opponent mid if action is between the two thirline.

If he play with a wing our mid will be able to stay large(not too much) to oppose his two mid when the action is between the two thirdline or help external defender with a double teaming or inserting in his place when they are successful to combine for the two wings.

I can explain how i'll make set plays (primarily throw-in), but I just say I'll arrange our players in free zone of both tactics(I don't know if i'm clear)so that we don't depend on their tactics( in offensive zone!!!).
In defensive zone i'll cover his players as possible trying always to understand if there are some place taken by his players in the 2 tactics.

I finish my time for now.....i'll post some graph if i can. ;)

Sorry for grammar mistake :P

OK post some graph. I am not sure that I understand your tactics correctly. Especially our offense lines.

This is the defense situation explained first against 4-2-1-1-2.

This is against 4-2-4.
Defensive movements are in red and are similar to thoese of first.
Offensive movements are in yellow.

This is just to give an idea.

I am looking at your 4-2-4 situation (the most likely in my opinion)
I cannot understand few things -

1. Why do you keep midfield so empty in your 4-2-4 situation?
2. Why do you use 2 scorers if you attack on flank only and if you don't have anywhere near a balanced fight?
3. How do you imagine getting out of your defense if you have none in midfield to give ball? (flanker does not count because he could be too far away or in offside)
4. What happens at left side through-in if it is in opponents side of field? Who will be able to take that through? I see only one midfielder there. And if other midfielder goes for it than does he leaves opponents midfielder alone in right side?
5. Does making our only 2 normally working midfielders against opponents 2 mids is a wise thing if you know that ours will face a loosing battle?

Because as I see it - yes this tactics in basics are quite ok at least in a first glance, but If you really made it exactly like this that I would guess that scorers would not get ball what-so-ever because we wont be able to get out of our defense line. Defenders and defensive midfields will be only able to give 2\3 passes to scorers that will be stopped in an instant by opponents defenders. That would ofcorse mean that opponents can start their attack all over again. the rest 1\3 of passes could reach flank midfielder - that would be other story, he has chances to deliver the ball deep into enemy defense lines - on that part I agree with you.

I might not be the best tactician aswell but I would do following - possibly 541 tactics (or 451 if I feel lucky). Defenders line I would place high up in hope of offsides and tight ground to play ball. Defence is quite ok in your drawing and I agree - 2 flank defenders and 3 inside. Though midfield would be a little different. I would keep the flank midfield ofcorse but very high as scorers - why? Because if opponents defenders get to that midfielder than the attack is over and beleave me - opponent coach would be waiting for flank attacks. The rest of midfield would be 2 defensive midfielders and one in center who should be free from anyone. He can then pass ball to flanker or scorer. (hopefully wont pass scorer much because that is a loosing battle). So here is the tactics in drawing

--------SC--------
----------------MID
--------------------
--------MID-------
--------------------
----MID---MID----
--------------------
def-def-def-def-def

You are welcome to prove me wrong by answering my questions and you can also say why your tactics will work better than mine and what are biggest threats in mine tactics.
