Finally I can try different tactics in friendlies without thinking to the global ranking. Despite the defeat, I've seen a good performance without scoring. I've used Cabulis only 45 minutes in order to avoid him useless risks. Unfortunately we are out of strikers with high form now. I hope in the next form update, next weeks we have very important matches.
I can't believe that we draw the match. Ok, we have no top scorer in top form but today we waste two easy points.
In this friendly I focus on the line up, I would like to test a solution that could work against stronger team and in the meantime could express better the skills of Latvijan players, especially Ozolins, Ciaguns, Bratilis and Plumpe. This last one is injuried, and I though "ok, let's put Zande there, he's not a striker but could act as a good external attacker because of his technique and pace, no care if he miss some goals, the focus is to test a line up, Plumpe just will play better"

Yes, now the last hard match is against Slovenija, we have only to win that match. On the last one they got a lot of lucky, one shot, one goal. We suffer the lack of strikers, because only Cabulis is strong with a top form. Plume is slowly recovering his form after a very long injury. In the match of yesterday we missed a lot of goal chances and we risk to draw the match.

Not a bad match. We had several chances of goals. Slovenja has revealed an opponent where we had no lucky. This time was not as the previous match because they had more chances and all dangerous. The main message that give us these last match is that we miss offensive power, Cabulis is not enough alone, Plume please, hurry up to came back with high form :)
Despite this, I am considering the performances of Jūlijs Puikevics... he's got an medium level form but he was more effective than Tālivaldis Karanausks, it could be because he played the second half, with the opponent defenders partially tired, but let's go to the match against as-Saʻūdiyya. In the first match we won "only" 9 - 0 but in the return match we won 17 - 0 with him as central striker the whole match. Lucky moment or his "hidden skill" as bomber?
Whatever will be the truth, that huge amount of goals that nobody else made (even italy, 10 - 0 and 11 - 0) let us to have a better goal difference that we will let us to be qualified. We have to win against Hong Kong :)

It will probably - unless you surprise Italy or there's another unexpected result by Latvija or Slovenija - come down to goal difference. If you don't get hammered by Italy, you should probably be on the winning side of this tiebreaker :)
I am very disappointed about today. Unfortunately, this means a world cup farewell. I should win the next one against italy, I don't hide that I consider a unreachable result. Anyway I don't think that we should have go further in case of the qualification if our score rate is so low as today but as we demonstrated sometimes in the past. But I admin that I guess a match like this from the beginning, when their defensive midfielder scores a goal on a free kick.... The rest of the match has been something scandalous. I don't want to complain more.

Why you did not used Ciaguns in this game?? He is divine form and i believe much more better than Gailums, Modriņš or Svīters.....

Hi juriuss. Thanks for your estimation words :). About Ciaguns, I have decided like this for two reasons.
First, because he's the best midfielder of the NT, I prefer to use it in hard matches. If he got injuried, I have to take a decision in the middle. If I prefer to defend, I put Ozolins or even Gailums is a complete (but weaker) mid. If I prefer to focus on playmaking, Modrins and Sviters could make the same job. Because I expected a match where we should have been always attacking I prefer to use Sviters ang Gailums as playmaker. because Hong Kong use always the same line up with a lot of free spaces at the side of his defensive line, I was pretty sure that our winger should have been always free. The task of the midfielder has been really easy as I expected and the effectiveness of a strong midfielder and a good midfielder with goos playmaking skills should be almost the same. If you see the match you can see that what I write it's what it happened, so I don't think that Ciaguns could had play better. In another words, I though "If the task will be to pass the ball to an always free winger, Ciaguns and Sviters or Gailums or modrins will do the same job in the same way". With 22 shots and only 2 goals the problem is not a midfielder. But there is another reason.
From the beginning when I started to manage the NT, I noticed that you have three top Latvijan NT players, Ciaguns, Cabulis and Plume. Because of this, for respect to whom send me the skills players for free, I tried to avoid to use all of them if it was not necessary. It's incredible!! Slovenja lost against Hayastan (finally) but we was able to gain a draw match against Italy!! Impossible but..... we got it!!!!!!!!

I was really sad because I think that I didn't deserve to be out but the fate make the things even in an exciting ending. Now I can face every upcoming match in the world cup lightly because we have nothing to lose. Let's see what we can reach. I'm happy even for the whole community because it deserve, we have few players but with a good quality.
