haha

Gong Xi Fa Cai everyone!!!

For what it's worth I am actually familiar with the Chinese New Year and it's pretty big here considering we have quite a large Chinese population. Had no idea what the saying was in Chinese though :D

It's actually the pronounciation of 4 Chinese words. "Gong Xi" means "Congratulations" and "Fa Cai" means "get rich; make a fortune". So when you say "Gong Xi Fa Cai", you're wishing someone to be prosperous!

In the Chinese New Year, us little kids will be running around collecting small little Red Packets from those who are married or from the elders! We would go visit our relatives and friends to wish each other a prosperous new year ahead. It's a Chinese tradition! It's also a national holiday in Singapore which lasts 2 days, followed by 13 days of celebration where we go visiting! There'll be lots of food, goodies, lion dances, all those noise and gambling!! The red packets, or "Ang Pao" as we Chinese call it, would contain money inside! The amount inside would range from a few dollars to a few thousand dollars, depending on how close you are to the person giving! My mom and dad gave me an S$888 red packet!! My Uncles and Aunts would give me red packets ranging from S$88 - S$ 388, depending on who loves me more!! Normal acquantices would normally give S$2 -S$4 per red packet! (I dun like these! Hehe!)

Well, this is just a short description of what is going to happen here in Singapore in the next few days! Hopefully, the "Ang Pao" money I collect would be able to buy me a new striker! :p

GONG XI FA CAI all! I'm off collecting "Ang Paos"!!! :)))
