Subject: Questions & Answers (Q&A)

Wingers dont work really well in this game, as i have seen experienced users complain about it in the forums, cuz they dont cross=P

Good wingers need tech, pace, passing and playermaking. Acccording to Cloete, you need high levels of pm and passing to make a good pass.

They need lovemaking skill!! [^^]

How about wing back? What level of skills are recommended?

It depends. A deeper 'winger' who is sort of in between a central mid and attacking mid position but out wide can be very effective. Particularly if they can tackle as they will completely dominate that side of the field for you.

In order to play an out and out winger though they really need to have firstly a very high (Incredible+ I'd say) level of passing as well as a good playmaking level (Very good+ but obviously the higher the better). The passing is basically to determine how accurate his pass is while playmaking will help him choose the right player and deliver the pass at a good time.

In past engines I played guys with really high tech, pace and passing on the wing and they'd carve up. Would beat defenders easily then deliver a really good pass. Playmaking is far more important for wingers now though and crosses are far less dangerous as well.

I'd stick to 'deeper wingers' but like Herps said pace, tech, passing and playmaking are the key skills. You can still get away with guys with high pace, tech and passing and no playmaking in these positions though as long as you don't make them run too far down the field.

@ xyart:
Wingbacks are really ineffective in Sokker. In order to have a good wingback they need NT sort of levels of defending, pace, passing, playmaking and technique and even then they usually need to be played with MID orders. I personally never play wingbacks but I maximise the use of Defensive Mids (probably the most 'skill demanding' position in Sokker). If you play 3 Defensive Mids in a line then it can be argued that it is actually 2 wingbacks and 1 defensive mid. But for them to make REGULARLY decent passes they need to be made MIDs.

You'd be looking at very good passing, good playmaking, HEAPS of pace (as much as possible basically) and a good level of tech for DM's (though this can be forgotten if the player has enough defending, pace and playmaking as it means he can tackle anyone and he will pass the ball before going into a tackle). Defensive Mids are by far the most valuable players in Sokker as you can imagine. If you develop a midfield full of players who are fast, have really good tech, can make an awesome pass AND ALSO tackle you won't lose many games.

So what you mean is , 4-4-2 are not effective in this aspect?

I've a question... Is there a difference to the level of training for players whether they play at home or away for friendlies?? Pls advice.
2008-06-13 12:28:36
no

there is only a little little difference to the % of training when a player play an official match (league or cup) or play a friendly... (i don't know the right %....but more or less a player that play a official match takes a 100% of training while a player that play a friendly takes a 95-97% of training)

p.s. you are welcome in this forum!!! :)

The traditional 4-4-2 with attacking full backs isn't effective no. But I still play it alot with 4 defenders purely there to stop the opponent, they offer very little in attack. Obviously with 4 defenders you can stop alot down the wings that you can't with 3. But with 3 you play the extra mid and get more out attacking outlets. I honestly believe the 3-5-2 is by far the most effective formation with the current match engine.

Yah, agreed. DMs require alot of skills...

3-5-2 I believe is effectively 3-3-2-2 with 3 def mids?
2008-06-13 15:23:12
Something in that sense. I use a 3-2-3-2, with two DMs.

I agree too. Generally, Wingers with tons of pace increases the tempo of the game. Usually, their cross dun meet the players in the box. But at least they can drag open the defence. Ok, I have two questions.

1.) What's the use of a keeper with pace? To rush out quick to cover the angle? Or just to compete with the other team's keeper to see who rushes to the opposite net first? LOL. A lot of NT requires keeper with pace. (Sokker international forum)

2.) Why is defenders with playmaking so important? I notice defenders with excellent defending and reasonable passing losing out in marks to solid defenders with reasonable playmaking and passing skills.

And an extra question...

3.) Is it important for a DM to have scoring skills? Good for long shots? Like lampard (He's not a DM though) maybe?

I like this! [lol] Actually, I think it's for reflexes!! Fast reflexes!!!

Why is defenders with playmaking so important?

So that they can play like Franz Beckenbauer!! [cool] Actually, so that they will not lose the ball to strikers like Fur Nando Tall Ress....

Is it important for a DM to have scoring skills?

NO!!

a DM that has good long shots is Gerrard
2008-06-13 23:57:38
1.) When a shot is taken the keeping skill of the keeper + striking skill of the striker + random factors are taken into account. However, if the shot is taken from a decent way out sometimes the keeper needs to move across before he saves the ball. Also high pace is very handy for passes which turn into shots and can often beat slow keepers. But the major reason keepers need high levels of pace is to stop through balls. The faster the keeper, the more likely he is to beat the striker to the ball.

2.) Playmaking on a defender is important in order to avoid having your defenders lose the ball to opposing strikers, like klvn said. A player with poor levels of playmaking and technique very often get tackled by a striker and allow an easy 1 on 1 chance to occur.

3.) It really isn't important at all. Only possible useful time is on free kicks but other than that your DM isn't going to be anywhere near the goal and he's so unlikely to shoot even if he is.

Thanks. That solved all my doubts.
